Do nano tanks cycle faster than larger tan :notsure: ks?

I currently have a 55gal fish only tank. I'm considering starting a reef tank. What would be a good book to get? Keep in mind that I have a very basic tank now. I am not swift when it comes to sump, refugium, pumps, etc. Basicly I need a reef book for Dilbert's. Can anyone help me?

I bought a chromis today(so he says). It is bright purple with what looks like a blue V on his head near his eyes. any idea?

I bought a lot of equipment from a coworker. I got lots of powerheads, MH, fish and coral, and lr. The problem is that the lr and coral have so much algea that I don't know what to do. Even the snails and crabs look like monsters cause of all of the algea. What should I do?:help:

I bought a protein skimmer(used).It is kind of resembles a bakpak. But anyways the canister that collects the bad stuff has an o ring around it for adjustments. So what I'm asking is how far should the canister be in the water?:notsure:
