Taking fish pics...looking for camera settings

i dont pretend to be a camera expert.. i am learning something new everyday... but those are some points i have picked up to this point a few others: turn your pumps off- rippling water affects lighting, also keeps particles suspended that can screw up the focus when they pass in front of the...

Taking fish pics...looking for camera settings

also... manual focus does wonders when shooting corals and reef landscapes... you can tell the camera exactly what you want to focus on (camera usually focuses on the closest thing) in this shot.. i wanted to bring out the corals in the distance... so i manually set the focal point for "deeper"...

Taking fish pics...looking for camera settings

main thing for taking pics of fish is film speed. anything in motion is gonna need an ISO of around 800 to turn out clear your f-stop will all depend on the lighting in your tank and you focal point. usually 2.8 or 3.2 is a good place to start for white balance... cloudy or shade is a decent...

Oceanic salt giving calcium level of 650?

neo... that solution... 1ml/gal ^ 2.0dkh since it also raises pH, i suggest only increasing by 1.0dkh in a 24hr period. if after raising 1dkh your pH gets up to 8.3 or higher, you can use 1 teas of baking soda per 50g to raise by another 1.0dkh and keep your pH the same (accute pH decrease, but...

Oceanic salt giving calcium level of 650?

calcium/magnesium precips when dkh is high and pH is high precipitated ca is CaCO3... same thing as southdown sand and coral skeletons.. it is stable and realitively unreactive as long as pH is above 7 or so. the caco3 will probably just stick to the walls of your waterchange bucket

    coraline turning white?

the Ca part yeah.. but the dkh part... i would just add it extremely slow in front of a powerhead if you add the dkh to a small glass of saltwater... it will probably precipitate (depending on how much you are adding and how much water you are adding it to)

Oceanic salt giving calcium level of 650?

600g of baked-baking soda to 1 gal of ro/di baked-baking soda... 1hr at 300*F as bang said and yeah... you are doing this for your new water.. NOT in your tank. if you have a high Ca load.. i would even adjust it at all

    Salt

FWIW... oceanic, red sea, IO, and reef crystals should all cost nearly the same at your LFS... their wholesale prices are within a few dollars of each other

Oceanic salt giving calcium level of 650?

yeah.. spread it out on a large cookie sheet (use foil so you dont ruin the pan).... bake for an hour.. this dehydrates it as far as cooking temp and how much baking soda... i will have to look that up for ya when i get home (i am thinking it is 600g of baking soda.. dont hold me to that yet...
