Hi does anyone know what substrate is better to use in a refugium? I am planning to get a HOB refugium. I want to have macroalgae and mangroves in it and be able to sustain some copepods in there as well. Is mineral mud better or regular live sugar grain sand? Thanks!

Someone else told me to get some pantyhose and put some bait in it, like krill or something and tie it up and throw it in. I guess in the morning you will wake up and find it full of bristleworms. Guess it's easier to get into it than out. I've heard it works really well from several others...

Thanks Stang. I think I will do the glass thing. My boyfriend thought putting either a piece of wood or styrofoam underneath the tank, btwn the tank and stand, b/c it's not flush, would also help alleviate some pressure on that area. Thanks for all the help everyone. Kadiya

It's a chip, really really tiny, buuut it is on the bottom and I thought the pressure from the water and live rock I want to add would cause it to crack. So silicone could fix it? What do you mean a small piece of glass? Like glue one over the area with some silicone or something? Thanks!!!
