I was thinking of using it as a dummy filter on my bigger tank that has been setup and disease free 2 years and counting ! therefore i want to be cautious before i put it on that tank or someones else's tank.
i dont want to transfer the disease to another tank via canister filter.
How long would ICK last in a canister filter (canister used to filter tank which broke out in ICK) ? Would it be neccessary to change the filter media or can i let the filter media dry out in open air?
thanks
Would the tek 24" fixture with 4-24W be enough to allow anemones/ hard to thrive at a max depth of 18 inches? (since each bulb has their own reflector) I wish I could test all these fixtures without buying, it would sure make this easier heh.
How do you judge how much lighting is needed for a reef tank ( anemones, soft corals, clams, LPS ) 30 gallon .
( 30 x 12 x 18 depth) using T5 lighting.
If someone knows, can you explain a comparison of a 130 watt PC vs your judgment using T5s.

Oh i just got home and i just realized that the HOT magnum comes with a micron cartridge filter and a carbon media basket. Which one do you use with Purigen?
alright thanks joncat, i'm going to try that when i get home. I sure wish marineland could make a media container that could hold all types of small particles

purigen is awesome by the way :jumping:
Now the the 100...
yeah my question was the media container that comes with the HOT magnum, is shaped so only large filter media can be used. I was hoping if someone knew a way around this. Because if I put a small fine filter media in the container that is provided by the HOT magnum, it just goes right through...
Anyone know how to make Purigen work with the HOT Magnum by Marineland. The problem I'm having is Purigen is a bit too small for the media basket that comes with the HOT Magnum. Am I looking at a dead end?
Thx
