    LS AND CC SUBSTRATE

Rather than remove all of the CC from my 125 gallon marine tank, could I add enough LS to the ends of the tanks to create a sand bed area that is 4 inches thick. This should create my zero oxygen zones for nitrate reduction, correct? In combination with this, how about adding green plant live...

    I hear clicking sounds!

Thanks All! The tapping is rythmic and does stop when I approach the tank at night. I do not think I am going to rip the tank apart to get at him. Will it hurt to just leave it along? The tank only has a clean up crew and a percula clown(small) and has 60 #'s of live rock. I will be adding...

    green hair algae

come on @knight, you should know this, emerald crabs. I think you should turn to page two in your aquarium book! You should not have algae problems if your system is in balance! (nutrient imbalance)I read that on page two in the botany book................

    Caulerpa question!

Trey, I have never heard of a green, photosynthetic plant releasing CO2 and taking in O2. This goes against basic photosynthesis processes. I believe these plants create a most stable marine set-up naturally. Because they feed off of the nitrates produce and complete the natural cycles in...

    good RO/DI unit

I have had great success with the Tap Water Purifier by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. The unit is about 10% of what a RO/DI unit is and the replacement cartridge is like $17 dollars. IMO this unit is your best option when you compare the price and performance versus an RO/DI unit. Especially, if...

    HELP>>HELP>>Goldstrip Clown problem!!

I would terminate it's existance. It is cruel to keep a wounded fish alive, in order to satisfy your own conscience. Just learn from this experience and move on............

Anyway, This stuff is going rapidly and I am wanting to know if this species can be cut and then place the cut pieces in other areas of my 30 gal...

    CC to Tropical Play Sand

I am trying to make a decision on what to do. Should I remove all of my CC substrate and then add sand/or/ should I just level out my CC presently and then add Tropical Play Sand from Home Depot? This tank is 125 gallon, fish only. Is this Tropical Play sand crap or is it good stuff. I would...

    DSB

If your set-up was fish only, I would go without a substrate. But since it is reef, a DSB would be ideal but expensive for that size of aquarium. I think it would be a good investment towards success, IMHO. C-Ya

    RED SCARLET DISAPPEARANCE, HELP QUICK

I purchased the big 20 clean-up crew from this site. Everything was going great and the tank has been cleaned up very good. My problem is that the red scarlet hermits are slowly dying off and the numbers are reducing. I started with about 25-30 and are left with under 8 (at last count). This...

    uncured rock....worth the effort?

LR online is worth every penny. For the price and the free shipping, the investment is great. I purchased some over the net for my initial set-up and it worked great. It must be cured so it is best to use it to cycle a new system rather than adding it to an exsisting established one. But for...

    CC REMOVAL

I am curious, I want to remove most of my CC substrate from my 125 gallon fish only. I have never really had any problems with high nitrate levels, tested around 5 ppm. Once removed, could I just leave behind a thin layer of the CC just for appearance reasons. My system has a wet/dry...

I am wanting to buy an IP from this site for my 125 gallon FOLR. Would the monster be sufficient? Do brittle stars scavenge or is it necessary to feed them frequently? Thanks in advance
