Everyone is overlooking VHO's these days. I have VHO's over both of my tanks, and I am having amazing results too! I have 6 48" bulbs over my 125 (5' long tank) and i have 4 36" bulbs over my 45. How tall is your tank? The 25" or 31"?

You will be fine for light, but I would expect to have to add a chiller. For that reason, I went all VHO's. I HAVE 6 48" VHO's over my 125, and there is plenty of light!

We are talking about doing this right now. Building a tank to our specs, but possibly a corner unit. I have thought about lining the inside of the tank with 1/8" acrylic too. Any thoughts?

Most fish and corals live in water above 1.022, Check with your LFS (where you may buy some of your fish and corals), most of there tanks will probably be around 1.025. HTH Shane

No you cant. Get some URI Super Actinics on there. If it is too blue, get a Actinic White for the other bulb. The 6500k lights are pretty yellow.

One problem with those lights is that they dont have water resistant end caps. The metal will corrode pretty fast over a salt tank! If your looking for a cheap fixture, check out aquatraders and get a CF light.

I would look at putting 48" VHO's in there. 4 of them over your tank will give you awesome light, and you should be able to keep anything in there! With MH's prepare to may need a chiller too! Oh and do a Retro/DIY kit...save yourself some money! If your not sure on wiring, dont worry its easy...
