somethings eating coral in my tank

I was questioning whether this was actually happening, but now I know for sure. My greenstar polyps in my tank have been slowly dimishing in my tank. I thought maybe some strange algae species was taking them out. I then noticed the frags of pulsing xenia I got from a friend slowly...

adding base rock to established system

I am re-aquascaping my 75 gallon tank. I am adding 30lbs additional sand to the current 30lbs already in the tank. While everything is out, I also plan on adding additional base rock and securing things better to make a more permanent structure. I currently have an urchin that knocks things...

I used to have crushed coral. Purchased the tank from someone else and didnt know any better. I was always siphoning my cc and my params were never perfect. I also never got any coraline algae growth. I make the big plunge and swapped over to a shallow sand bed. Quite the task, but well...

    ich and mushrooms??

It would have to be for 6 weeks. How is he treating the ich at the store? Hopefully not using any sort of copper. Tough call on this one. I do not know alot about fresh water dipping. I would find out the period of time to keep the coral in there. I'm not really sure it would be sufficient...

    Nitrite question

Just finished testing the new water I dripped. Tested it before and after adding salt. Both read zero. So it has to be the slime in the bucket causing it.

    Question

I would put it into a little container of rubble rock to contain it. It should attach to piece of the rubble and then you can super glue that to a larger rock or fix it however you like to your rocks. I've rubber banded my rics in the past without problems. Sometimes they stayed sometimes...

    Nitrite question

I tested my freshly mixed saltwater tonight. Its been mixing for about a week. Its testing possitive for nitrites. Any ideas as to why? I drip my RO/DI into a 32 gallon rubbermaid trashcan. I changed my filters on my RO/DI in April. I do not have a TDS meter, so I cant check that. I...

    Leather toxicity

Reading a few posts on here about the affect leathers seem to have on other corals in a tank. I went to frag farmers market in CT this weekend and decided to try my hand in some "easier" SPS. I bought a bright green monti cap which is dead (6 days later). I also purchased pink birds nest and...

    Upgrading

So how did you get the BTA's off the rocks? I have those 7 I bought on the same rock and I gave one to a friend. This anen. had moved onto another rock. I couldnt get this darn thing off! Didnt want to hurt it, so I ended up giving the whole rock with the anem. Was prob a 5lb rock! Tanks...

    Carbon???

Meowser, What is your calcium at? You mentioned it looked like its "snowing" at times in the tank, which is something described when calcium levels are way too high. Do you check calcium? Do you add any kind of alkalinity-calcium two part systems?
