I tend to think that the excessive flow mine had in the bigger tank was the problem.
Now that they are in the nano, their tentacles will bareley, gently move with the current and they seem to LOVE it.
I don't know if this is what others have experienced but it has really worked well with mine...
if they are on the top, under MH's - just try moving them lower maybe.
I know before I bought my torch, I read somewhere that they needed high light and high flow then....
read everywhere else that they need moderate light and moderate flow. Mine seem to be doing really really well under...
My female maroon is wicked! That is her tank! She used to chase my 7" tang around when they were in the big tank
No MH, just running the stock lights (2x36w pcs + actinics)
Here's one for ya - this is of my small tank (24g Aquapod)
true mated pair Maroons
Torch Coral
LTA in the back
Zoa's
2 Neon kenya tree frags (from big tank)
Wellsi
Long tentacle plate
mushrooms
there's a red lobophylia in the back corner
Good Luck!!
I don't know if this will be helpful or not but....
I have a torch that we bought awhile back (many months) and it was doing great, for awhile... the 2 of the heads started to close up and the fleshy part at the top of the head started to receed. I pulled it out of my 125g and into the nano...

Did you recently purchase any corals?
About 1 month ago we purchased a large rock of zoa's that seems to have come with a fair amount of hitch hikers! Interesting looking snail, shell is black and white and...

The torch is really nice.
Thanks!
the nano WAS the one that only had the zoas and the lta
By just taking the really nice pieces of coral and/or fragging the others - the 2 small kenya trees are frags - my...
Agree!
I've been told that one of the only ways to keep them alive for a long period of time is if you have a very established (years old) tank and/or a refuge with lots and lots of copepods
they are awesome fish!
Thanks!!
It has the stock 2x32w sunpaqs
Added some more coral from the 125g to it again last night - we're basically condensing the 125 into the 24g and moved the rocks around a bit
will be adding my mated pair of maroon clowns later in the weekend or first part of next
I'll post more pics later!
do you have any lights right now?
when my ballast blew a couple months ago - I was told that corals can survive for 1-2 days without lights but after that, it wasn't good. Not sure how accurate that is but...
You know, I was wondering if we were talking about the same thing... especially when you mentioned polyps, my bad - I know it's a brain, out of habit I just call it the Wellsi (short for scientific name) lol
Yours looks great!!
thanks again!!
