When the water level drops below the hole in the overflow tube and breaks the siphon, will it start back up when the power comes back on? Or will the tank fill up until your sump is dry and burn your pump out. I have never set up a sump and want to after the hoidays.

I heard 4" is best for DSB. The Quickcrete was $3.50 for 50 lbs. I haven't added it to my tank yet, but it is a nice white color. Looks very clean.

I would like to add more sand for fitration purposes as well as asthetics. I went to my local hardware store to buy sand. Does it matter what kind I get or is it all appearance. Is there a particular brand that is good? There is no Southdown out on the westcoast. Any recommendations? Thanks

The clean up crew is the only thing I have in there right now. I put one cube of frozen brine shrimp about once a week to feed my starfish. I am looking at getting some more snails and crabs.

I heard that canister filters can be nitrate factories and I should take the foam out. I have a Fluval 304 running on my 40 gallon reef (only inverts right now). What should I put in the canister? Carbon? Please help.
