ok end of discussion the point is to build a eco-system from scratch having nothing will be more than $60.00. Turbo Joe did you get all the info you needed in all this arguing that has been going on?
hey no attitude here bro just the facts I was letting people know how much it costs to build a eco-system the facts not it only cost me 5 bucks because I had everything else just the facts I just want people to be informed and if you are so ignorant to think you can build a eco-system having...
They should do fine in a refugium. Yeah I know they are pricey but I have two wild ones and I have to hatch brine all the time and it can be a pain I am trying to get they to get frozen as well but no luck yet. I know brine has no nutritional value but that is all they will eat aside from pods...
Hey JLEM looks like you need 90% of the materials to build his sump dumb ass Maybe if you read a book once in a while you might have something smart to say. Not trying to bash anyone just stating the facts.
Swazo Out
I have no idea how old yeller built one for $60.00 hell that is just barely a power compact for the sump and you will most likely need two. Then the mud is like 80.00 bucks a bag the cheapest I have ever seen it is 60.00 and that is from a friend that owns a store. Not to count the acrylic and...
What I would do is go to this site http://www.oceanrider.com/ and buy my horses from there. They are tank raised so they do a lot better. If you don't you should hatch your eggs in a separate tank then feed them to your horses but also...
ok here is the skinny. Your polyps not opening answer: They are most likely dormant at this time. most corals have a dormant period. Also check the whole coral piece for red alga it can sometimes strangle the coral. Second Answer: yes you can keep an emperor he will nip at polyp stony corals and...
I had the same problem. I got a powerhead 402 with the attachment filter for the bottom of it. The filter is a water polisher and that should clean up your tank in a day.

You should go with a mud filter as your sump I am using one and I have not seen any nitrates for the life of my tank and I have never done a water change just vacuumed out the substrate once every month or two but if you don't want nitrates this is the way to go.
I used it on my 125 for my external pump (twice) and I have had no problems. I let it sit for like 15 mins but I guess if you can let it sit a whole day that would be the safer bet.
Well if you are not jumping into corals yet if I were you I would experiment to see what you like the best. right now on my 125G I have 3 50/50's and 2 white All VHO on (3) industrial ballast. and I have stuff growing like mad. so you might want to try 2 50/50's and 2 whites to start.
The only thing you really need is an under gravel filter you will have to hook up two power heads to the filter but other than that you should be fine if you want to do corals you will have to get new lighting but just to keep fish you will be fine.

The way I introduce fish is I put the least aggressive in first then move up the pack to the most aggressive but make sure the more aggressive the fish the smaller you get them. If you get them small and your non-aggressive larger than them you will be fine they will learn to live together.
I believe risc is correct that they all glow. Their bellies glow to attract prey. and they are often found in schools and it is believed that they glow to keep together in the dark water. once again this is just speculation.
