How many VHO watts for 125g

Hi, I am setting up a 125g fowlr tank and I got a good deal on two 4" VHO bulbs with a ballast to light the set up. I was thinking of adding an anemone in the future for my Clarkiis to host. I was wondering if I could support an anem with the two bulbs I have, I don't know the specific wattage...

    Adding Clarkii question

I am about to ass 2 clarkii clownfishes to my 125g fowlr tank. My question is should I get two of the same size 1.5-2" or one 1.5-2" and one 3-4." How large do they get before they start their sexchange?

    Help with 125g stock

ok, so I am trying to decide which fish to get first. In a couple days/week I should be ready for my first guy! Problem is... this site doesn't have any of the possible triggers in stock, except for the small humas (If I decide to go with a huma when should I add it to my tank?) I was thinking...

    Bulk Play Sand

Is it ok to use play sand from lowes in a saltwater aquarium. I know it has high silicates so it may cause algae blooms at first, but other than that is there any problems with it? How many of you have used this sand, I really don't want to spend a couple hundred on argonite sand for my 125g...

    tank drilling plumbers putty question

I used it to create a reservoir of water to keep the bit cool. I used it on the outside but when the drill broke through the water and junk splashed down into the tank. My friend created this topic, I think the matter he is talking about is just dusted glass. The putty shouldn't dissolve in...

    tank drilling plumbers putty question

I just got drilling my tank and was wondering if a little plumbers putty inside the tank would be harmful to the fish. I will try to get out as much as possible, but there will likely be some residue somewhere. What does everyone think?

Thought on COMLINE DOC Skimmer 9010 by Tunze

HI, I am looking for a skimmer for my 125g FOWLR set up. I am looking at the COMLINE DOC Skimmer 9010 because of its dimensions, I could wait to order it, get my tank started and then put it in my sump when I get it. With every other skimmer I would have to take the tank of the stand to fit it...

    55g sum question

I found this site where this guy used epdm weather stripping around the baffles to create the seals instead of silicone. This looks like it would be easier and less of a mess. Does anyone know if it could possibly be harmful overtime to the water chemistry?

    55g sum question

Thanks for the reply, I know I can use glass but I think it might be kind of expensive to have the pieces cut. I would love to know if I can use acrylic on glass so i can get this in the works tonight! Thanks guys!

    55g sum question

I just got my 55g that I will turn into a sump. It is glass, Can I use acrylic for the baffles or will it not seal to the glass with silicon? I was thinking of getting some acrylic at lowes and buying a saw to cut it myself (Which saw and blade is best?) (Would this be cheaper than paying a...

    Overflow Help!

Thanks for the help I am still on the fence about the whole thing. I can afford the largest overflow plus the 3800gph Dart pump but don't know if I should dump the cash into it. If I did get the 3800 pump how many returns should I put in? I would be using those loc pipe things.
