I didn't see this at all when I first bought it. I was eager and bought it right after getting my new MH lights. Then came the huge bloom of diatoms and/or algae. Pretty much hard to see anything in detail after that. Took me awhile to get things back to normal and that is when I noticed it.

Any of this cause for alarm

There are two places. One looks like a tube like mouth. The other looks like a rip in the corner, inside part when wide open. When it closed up some when my MH went out and my T5s came on, I couldn't see the hole anymore. Is this bad. It is definately new!

sounds like a bloom of some kind to me. I'd be testing your ammonia and nitrites pretty closely. You might be spiking.

How old is the tank? Brown Algae usually happens in a new tank. I had a brown algae probably due to upgrading my lights. Check to make sure your nitrates aren't too high. The algae/diatoms feed on nitrates and phosphates and I think silants. You can also check your R/O water source or start...

Yeah.. yeah... yeah... I hear ya on all this urchin talk. I actually moved mine this week to go reef and it died. I miss it. They can be cool but I understand the reef concerns.

Thanks!! I will do one of those! It will forever remain a mystery as to what happened to the urchin and star. I just want to be sure the LR is safe for a re-entry into my display tank.
