Best skimmer for 40g of Sps dominant?

I bought a used Tunze 9010 for my 40g cube. Paid $150 for it. I needed something with a small footprint to fit inside my tiny sump.

What is your most expensive zoa per head?

Per polyp, I paid $40 for a darth maul (became 3 polyps in 2 weeks!). Per single purchase, I paid $100 for a 25+ colony of spiderman zoas.

    Torch in a Biocube 14?

Agree with previous poster. A torch will outgrow your Biocube very fast, unless you don't mind getting some of your other corals stung. Never had a torch/hammer/frogspawn in my nano for more than a few months before I had to give them away b/c of their quick growth and sweeper tentacles.

    RPEs

Your PEoAs are gorgeous! Haven't seen them around here. It's obvious that you keep your tank in great condition. You should sell frag packs. :)

    New Acan

I noticed that you have the acans terribly close to your zoas. They place nice? My acans attack everything that's within .5 inches of them.

    Jadette's 7.5g ADA Zoa/Shroom Cube

Thanks for all the compliments! Keri - The pics were taken with a Nikon D70. Rebelprettyboy - There's actually nothing exotic in there. Like I said, the tank is filled with 'leftover' corals. The pink palys that just outgrew my main nano tank, the green PEs that were growing like weeds and I...

    Jadette's 7.5g ADA Zoa/Shroom Cube

Here's one of the 4 nano tanks that I maintain. It's been set up as the "can't find any room in my other tanks so I'm just going to throw it in this one" tank. It also houses the corals that my brothers no longer want in their reef tanks. End result? A very colorful tank!

    why cant i keep zoas...

I think it varies from one zoa type to another. I've noticed that my blue zoas actually brown out in high light, so I have them on my sandbed where they color up nicely. My zoas with a lot of red and orange (especially the 'armor' ones) seem to really like being higher up in my tank. In fact...

    New Button Polyps Mostly Closed

Yep. Some polyps just take time to open. I've had some that opened in the bag they were shipped in, and others would take up to a month to adjust.

    what's the difference

It's just more fun to call them zoos. I'll use the term 'zoas' when I'm posting, but would would use the term 'zoos' when I'm talking to someone about them. "Zo-ahs" just sounds so jurassic to me when spoken out loud.

    Coral light acclimation

I had a ric that detached from its rock, float under my live rock and disappear on me. I found it a month later buried underneath some rock rubble. After all that, it was still alive. Rics can take a lot of abuse. Not saying you should purposely put them through a lot of stress, but I think...

    Greeen Star Polyp

Although GSPs are considered 'beginner' corals, I've had an easier time getting my zoos to open. I had days where my GSP colonies would just refuse to open and the next day they would just explode. Just keep them under decent flow and be patient. My first GSP colony took 3 days to open. I have...

My 1st LPS, need some advice!

There's a 'shimmer' look to MHs that you can't get with any other type of light. As far as fragging LPS corals go, a dremel and goggles work for me!
