    help!! somthing on my clownfish!!!

I have a maroon clown that gets small spots like this at times, but not as large as yours. I think mine does it by rubbing against rocks and sand because it is always stirring up sand, darting into the rocks, and chasing it's reflection. It tatters it's fins too but it always gets better.I tried to...

used kick ich and it didnt work

You could also try reducing the lightime. The fish are more active and stressed during lighting. Sometimes I run my blue lights only. Sort of like a cloudy day in the ocean. If water is warm, float a bag of ice at top.Garlic extreme helps boost their immune system plus depending on what your...

Can you keep your nitrates below 5 PPM?

I want to say thanks for all the good input you guys are giving me. I do think I would like to try something like the chemipure product that claims to reduce nitrates and you can regenerate it instead of throwing it away. I have not thought about the turkey baster to clean the rock with. I will...

Can you keep your nitrates below 5 PPM?

I am using a Red Sea skimmer. When you say exporting I guess that means as it grows you cut some out and throw it away to make room for more to grow? I have 1 maroon clown,1 yellow tang, 1 blue hippo tang, 1 coral beauty angel. But as I mentioned before the nitrates are hanging right where it...

    Green mushroom trouble

I bought a rock with 5 mushrooms on it and in a short time there was only one that has shrunk to a very small size and has been hanging on like this for a long time. These are supposed to be extremely easy to keep and require almost nothing. I have red mushrooms and they are doing great. What...

    Diatoms and algae problems

Even more info, I used to change water at 25% every month and am now doing 15% weekly to keep the water more regular instead of depleting it over a month. Regardless neither way had any effect on the brown algae.

    Diatoms and algae problems

I forgot to mention in my first post that I also test for phosphates and it is always zero. Even after that I still used phosphate remover and it didn't change anything. Recently my brown algae was not as aggressive as it was in the beginning. I changed my light bulbs because I was at 8 months...

I get the brown algae on my sand and then on my glass too. My water tests perfect for ph,ammonia, nitrites, nitrates every time so that is not what killed your clean up crew.
