With that kind of lighting, you should be able to grow just about anything if your parameters are ok. the Zoas will do great and don't need anything other than your lighting.

    Getting rid of Zoa's

I added a cowrie to my tank a few months ago. I had it until I saw it moving over a rock I had filled with yellow star polyps and the polyps were missing as he got by. Just like a lawn mower. I didn't leave him in long enough to see if he had a taste for zoas but I would bank on it.

    Candy Cane Skeleton

I have pc lights as well on my candycane. When I added another powerhead, the increased flow caused some recession of the tissue on a couple heads but it seemed to gradually adjust to the flow. And the tissue seemed to look a little shrunken the first couple of months I had it. But it looks...

what cant i put in biocube

I have a 29 also with stock lighting. I know you asked about what you can't have, but here's a list of the corals I have that all do well. I have really been surprised at the growth on most of these. Zoas and mushrooms of course brain coral- lobophyllia sp? Duncans frogspawn Ora birdnest Acans...

    Algae

I don't know the name, but I have macroalgae that looks similar to that one. My LFS recommended a mexican turbo snail, and he's doing the trick. Mows it down like a lawn mower.

    Adhesives?

Superglue gel is safe to use. I just apply a liberal glob of the gel on the frag, submerge it in the tank and attach it to my rocks. As the superglue hits the water, it forms a skin on it, so when you do the attaching, give it a little twist to break the skin. Some on here apply superglue to...

    Ick Outbreak Help!!!

You mentioned you were going to mix up some water to the same SG to have your Mother add while you're away. If she is only going to be topping off to compensate for evaporation, she should be using RO water only. You're only loss from evaporation is the water, not the salt.

    After Ick

If a persons dt is fishless for 6 weeks, the ich parasite will have run it's course and died out. Being that your lr has been away from any fish for this long a period of time, your should be just fine putting your rock back in. You've waited long enough.

    need help!!

I would start off with getting another powerhead. I use a koralia 1 but any good head will work. 200 to 300 flow will do. And I think you could get by for awhile with just the mysis shrimp if they are frozen. Thaw the amount you want to use in a little tank water and then strain through a fine...

    Starting hypo

I have a nanowave 9 as a qt and I know what you mean about the water level. I just took a gallon out at a time and added a gallon of RO water right away and did this several times over a two day period, monitoring the salinity as I went along. That way you can keep your pump going in your BC. I...

    Magic Bubbles

The best way to get rid of cyano is frequent water changes with siphoning of any cyano you can get off the rocks. I use a turkey baster, blast it off and suck it up. Adding more flows helps. And trying to get phospates down as well as silicates. I think I've seen more people having a problem who...

    Tiger cowrie eat corals?

Mine ate my yellow star polyps like a lawn mower. You could easily see his path. He was sent away to a friends fowler tank.

    shrimp dying

I'm leaning towards the starvation thing too BangGuy. I read so much about the downfalls of overfeeding and it's hard to keep a balance. If they would just tell me like my dog does, it would be easier. We really need a kick in the pants icon to bring up. I'd give myself one.

    Magic Bubbles

One thing I forgot. If it is cyano, you should start seeing some reddish or brown slime that blows off easily with a baster. And high silicates can cause of bloom of this, as well as phosphates. And keep up with the water changes for the nitrates. They will diminish if your filtration system is...

    Magic Bubbles

A number of things will give off those bubbles, algae, cyano, the bacteria that's cycling your organics. Its part of the process. But I would check to see that your phosphates are not too high. That of course can trigger the first two I mentioned. And those bubbles can be oxygen or nitrogen...

    Coral dips...

The guy at the lfs recommended an iodine dip on my zoas and rics. He also said that some things won't be killed but it stuns them enough so that a shwish in water will knock most things off.

    shrimp dying

I don't add iodine. I thought that with regular water changes, it would keep the level up. But I need to get a test kit for it. Thanks for the advice. One other thing I thought of. I know that both shrimp were carrying around eggs and i did see both dumping them just 2 or 3 weeks before they...

Dumb question, but does anyone take the chemipure out periodically and rinse it, or do you just leave it?
