How many people have generators for power outages?

I picked up a 8500W and it runs everything in my house 2 tanks, fridge,freezer,T.V., furnace and the odd light. You should see the neighbours stare when I'm sitting on the couch watching cable T.V. and they're running around with candles.

    Dechlorination question

Chlorine is not the only harmfull thing in tap water there can be phosphates and trace metals (ect) which we don't want in our tanks. It's recommended that you use RO-DI water in your tank. I would spend a couple more bucks and get a RO-DI filter and make your own water at home. Or you can but...

    Anyone grow out brine shrimp?

I was looking for a good food for my sun coral. I noticed on the tube videos that alot of them are feeding live brine. Figured if it wasn't too much work I would try and hatch some myself. By the sounds of it I'm gonna feed frozen foods.

Are you sure it's not cyno or something like that? Sounds kind of wierd to already have a large bloom of coraline.

    My 33g

Thanks it's been slow going but it's coming along. I just got a new 33G drilled so I'm going to switch everything over in the near future which should clean up the DT. No more clutter of wires, hoses and a skimmer.

    Film on top of water

I was told the scum is a build up of protien. If what I have been told is true then water changes and a good skimmer should help. Also keep the surface moving add another power head or redirect one you already have to agitate the water surface. You have a cyano problem and a build up of protien...

I would look at what kind of corals you want to keep or are keeping in the tank and go from there. I'm running 2 K2's in my 33G with a 304 fluval (not sure the output of it) and this gives me lots of movement but it doesn't stir up the sand.
