Shouldn't LFS always have knowledgable staff???

Personally, I had done my homework about the fish and anemones. The ones they had were ones we had been searching for our nano tank. I was surprised to see them in stock at this store since I couldn't find them anywhere else around here. I only asked this girl about if a clown goby was "ON...

Shouldn't LFS always have knowledgable staff???

I know it can be hard to find knowledgeable staff, especially when it's fish...but if places such as this want to have good success and leave an impression, they need to make their employees go through some sort of training, at least know basic knowledge...or a price tag! The LFS is family...

Shouldn't LFS always have knowledgable staff???

We visited this new locally owned LFS that has been around for about a month. They had a large selection and the girl working the fish dept seemed like she had potential in knowing things, since I saw her yappin' away to customers when we walked in. There were a few things I liked and she didn't...

A better plan for while we're away from fishies

So we spent this last weekend away from home. We separated the aggressive ones in the main tank with dividers & left the nanos in their normal state. Fish didn't eat for about 3 days. We came home to find our flame angel dead in the nano, which the PH rose to 8.8 while away. All the other...

    Fuzzy Dwarf vs. Violitan

Sometimes it really depends on the lion though. We have a chromis that our volitan could easily eat if he wanted to...but he just doesn't seem to be bothered...which sucks because I want that chromis gone. lol

    Killer Baby Porcupine Puffer??!!

Apparently porcupine puffers can be evil little things. People on here have warned me, that eventually my porcupine will kill off my dogface puffer and volitan. But, nothing's happened. I think it depends on luck.

    Fuzzy Dwarf vs. Violitan

Personally I think you'd be okay if you chose a fuzzy & put him in the 300g. Their short spiky fins don't seem to scratch others as easily. They only get up to 5", I think. While volitans can get up to 12" & their long spines tend to accidentally scratch other fish (in my case, anyway) while...

    Fuzzy Dwarf vs. Violitan

From my understanding, lionfish and clowns don't mix. We recently got a clown from someone for free and I didn't want to chance it, since the volitan was double his size. If we only had the fuzzy, I probably would have taken the chance since they were about the same size

    Fuzzy Dwarf vs. Violitan

My volitian chills on his rock all day & comes up between 6-9pm for his food, while fuzzy swims around most of the day/night no matter what. Looks like everyone's fishies are different!

    Water Test Kit Brand Recommendations?

It is definitely hard to compare the test tubes to colors on paper! It stresses us out sometimes. The Instant Ocean kits look very nice..according to one site, each kit has 20 tests of each thing...is that the only quantity option available? We have 3 tanks, I think we'd go through that quick...

    Water Test Kit Brand Recommendations?

I've looked all over the packages and there's no expiration anywhere...I just seem to run into the lot numbers, which doesn't help a lot. I'll check that kit out, thanks. They still seem to be accurate, since our results are the same as the LFS, whenever we go visit them.

    Water Test Kit Brand Recommendations?

We're about to run low on the test kit we currently have, it just refers itself as "Saltwater Master Test Kit" (came with the used aquarium we have) and it has that little doctor fish image on it.. What brands does everyone recommend? Would like to try something different and possibly a kit that...

Lions and those puppy dog eyes

Our fuzzy gives us the puppy eyes too! Makes me go "Awww!" everytime. :) I am about 95% sure that he has some feelings for our dogface puffer...those 2 have been cuddling up at night. He's too adorable!

    Budget for First Tank

For budget, you can always try the craigslist ads for used aquariums. It seems like that site is full of aquarium ads. We managed to get our 72g at a garage sale for $140 & it had all of the saltwater equipment included. Just bought live rock off this week from an individual online and it was a...
