    ? on MH lighting

I'm looking at upgrading my lighting to MH. Do I need to have PC, VHO, or T-5 to supplement? Can I get a good balanced look of white and blue just using MH? TIA

    Corals getting ate

Over the past week my small clam, green and pink star polyps have gotten ate. The only things added recently are a brittle star and a red serpent star. My button polyps, xenia, mushrooms, kenya tree, zoos, toadstool, and colt haven't been touched. Any ideas?

    SeaClone Modifications 101

What did you use to cut the acrylic tubing since you can't pull the tube out for the collection cup? Also, in the skimmer itself did you cut down the smaller diameter tube or did you cut the larger diameter tube that you can pull out? Thanks.

    ro units

You can get a 6 stage ro/di with faucet and holding tank for $135 including shipping off of e-bay. Works well, I get the same readings from that unit as I did from my LFS RO/DI that costs .30 cents a gallon. I believe they are named filter direct.

hoe often do you guys purchase clean up crews?

You have to be careful with Turbo snails because some come from colder waters and therefore die shortly after being put in our tanks, but it could take up to a month or two before they die from the water temp. Margirita snails can not right themselves, so if they fall off and land on their...

    powerheads

I run two, one on each end of the tank. One is a powersweep that does 200 or so gallons per hour and one is a standerd power head that does another 200 or so. I still have a few spots that are low flow areas for corals that like that type of flow, so I don't think I have too much flow. I also...

What will survive under 2 wpg?

I don't mean to flame Kelly's opinion, but xenia need more light than that. You need at least a decent power compact setup to grow xenia. I also wouldn't do a frogspawn under anything below a PC setup. Just too risky on the animals part and also on the owners part in investing a good chunk of...

    ? for broomer5

It says it can be used everyday, but on my 25 I haven't had to do that. I might have to do it, but I want to get my levels where they should be and then figure out how often and how much I need to dose. I just don't know what to do to get back to where I should be.

    ? for broomer5

I've noticed your good with the water quality stuff, so I got a question for you. I can't seem to get my PH, cal, and alk where they need to be. Here's my readings: amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 PH 7.8 cal 320 alk 300 Alk test reads (KH) ppm for the readings. I dose b-ionic weekly, which...

    PH & cal trouble

My alk test is in ppm, strange I know, but that's the way it is. First one I bought. PH is higher during the day. Those values are morning when the lights come on and at night right as they go off. B-ionic is a two part system. First part is the buffer, and the second is the calcuim. Both...

Flame Angel or Coral Beauty ?

I can't say which to get because we only have a coral beauty. I have to say this is my favorite fish that we have, he is always on the move and likes to play games with you, sort of like hide and seek. He will move into a cave and then look out of a small hole until you look at him and then...

    PH & cal trouble

Yes, I use part A & B in equal amounts. As for letting the water age, I let it age for a couple hours, but I have ran multiple tests now and after a couple hours all levels in the mixed water are perfect with the PH being 8.2. I use IO salt if that makes any difference. Also, I have a 25...

    Aquacultured Toadstool Leather Coral

If you keep it towards the top I would say it would probably be OK, but I'm not an expert by any means.

    Good or bad?

I've been watching them for awhile now. They tend to go all over, on the rocks and the glass. Last night they were all over the rocks, and there were three on my toadstool leather. I watched them for about a half hour and they didn't do anything bad to it that I could tell. The toadstool...

    Good or bad?

Bang Guy - Yes, I guess you could say they look like a grain of rice. Once they get a little larger than that they tend to become rounder instead of as oblong. They tend to be really small, with the largest of them about the size of a pencil eraser. The smaller ones are maybe half that size...
