intesity my friend in my opinion you can grow sps with vho but metal halide jsut has the intensity to make those corals thrive all up to you which one oyu want to get you can get a combination of metal halide with vho actinics for colors or actinnic whites. Up to you my friend

I do water cahngese every week and i am gonna continue to do so because i'm gonan keep acroporas. Thats just my rule if you want you can do water cahngese every two weeks. I tried not doing water changese for 6 months it work everything was 0 but still i say water changese are always better

maybe the noise you are hearing is the ventri air line on the skimmer it makes a lot of noise at night i just turn the skimm down to just flowing try that for a night because the skimmer should be quiet after taht if not i dont see any downside to turning the skimmer off at night

I would go with 250 watt metal halides and i think you should go for 250 instead of 175 is that it doesnt relaly cost that much more. ALso soon you will catch the sps bug (small Polyped Stony) These corals are beautiful. I say go get yourself the retrofit metal halide system
