i would recommend getting a quality skimmer, do some research never settle for less. You just end up getting the better skimmer later in this hobby. Do yourself a favor and never skimp on quality.

i wanted to make some homemade rock like in the garf website, and possibily selling it. How long would it take for it to cure fully to be able to be used in a tank? Woiuld throwing in some actual live rocks help?

you didnt mention it but my emerald crab ate my zoo's slowly day by day but i never had hermets eat any of my corals. you might want to get a flashlight with some red film over it or a red light and check out what comes out in hte middle of the night when its completely dark

i used to put a bag of ice in the hang on back filter to lower the temp, make sure the water doesnt get out of the bag. You can put stuff like carbon and phosban in the filter. I recommend the carbon if your just started the tank, run it for a few days and dump it. I wouldnt get any corals...

Im just curious why an insump skimmer would work better then a hang on back skimmer. Isnt it skimmer the same water anyways?

i saw this in vegas, it was after the reef exhibit at mandalay bay, they were outrageously priced but i was curious about hwo they would survive for so long.

my lfs had a lot of these in one tank, they were jumping up and down, i was pondering if i should have gotten it though.
