Anybody here running an aggressive FOWLR tank without bioballs? I am going to get a wet/dry filter for my 120G but I read that some people just go with a sump and fill it with LR/LS and Calupra plants (sp?) but will that be enough for 120G FOWLR tank? Jimmy

I am definately getting a skimmer. When I was told this at the LFS I did not really believe him. I will be getting a Berilin HO or a Turbofotor HO on my 120 FOWLR. I am just trying to figure out which one is quieter? Thanks Jimmy

I was told this by a LFS. How true is it? he claims that skimmers should only be used on reef tanks. I though skimmers remove organic waste from the fish thus help reduce Nitrates. Am I wrong?? Jimmy

The snowflake is very popular but I find mine to be kind wimpy. He hangs in the rock most of the day and can be intimidated by other fish. Even my 4 stripe damsels slap him in the face with their tails from time to time. That is funny. My SFE is very mean and he is always mad if a fish comes...

I have had a Fluval 404 and XP3. Both did not spit out any air bubbles. Is it clean? I would try calling their tech line and ask. They might be able to help. I like my XP3 better than my 404 because it is a lot quiter. Good luck Jimmy
