    Answer this about Metal Halide

MH is very hard (IMO) to compare to other light sources. It produces a very intense light over a very small area. Other light sources are spread over a larger area. That intensity is what makes it a popular (and necessary) light source for high light organisms.

HELP, Where do I start from here?

What was your fish load on the tank. Dory and Nemo are a tang and clownfish. I would wonder if your nitrates where high due to fish load. The tank may have crashed from that. Give a few more details about your set up. Filtration (skimmer)? Amount of LR, Sand bed, the more info the better.

    dosing B Ionic

It is also very slow to raise cal levels with kalk. I would use tubo calcium. USE CAUTION! It is very potent and can do more damage if not used carefully. Once your levels are where you want then use the b-ionic. Because I have a large number of sps, I also use kalk for replenishment.

    Iodine, Strontium, Mg, additives experiment

I am relatively new to reef tanks. The best advice I received when I started is "dont add anything to your tank that you can't test for levels. As a result I avoided adding any additives to my tank. The tank was fine without them. Everything was growing and looked great. Recently I had a little...
