    Mayday...Mayday

I seem to remember you have been having problems with you tank for awhile. The best advice I can give you is to do nothing. Test for all tank parameters on a weekly basis. Feed a little less..It is fun to see our fish eat alot, but it is not necessary. Set up a regular water change schedule...

    Red slime in refuge

Check the flow thru your fuge. I needs to be slow for a fuge to do it's job. If it is too slow however you may experience cyno. I would just increase the flow slightly. Try that before you take other measures.

To buy a clam or not to buy a clam?

Even with 8x96 watt you won't have sufficent light for a clam. It's more than watts..it's intensity. Best way to get that is with MH.

    choco star eating my xenia!

I had the same thing happen to me. I had a chocolate c. starfish who ate my xenia colony. Took him back to the LFS. The xenia grew back and spread like crazy. Now I wonder if I should have kept the starfish and sent the xenia back to the LFS.

Richard Rendos or other MH experts..

Richard, Thanks for your imput on MH lights and bulbs. I upgraded my canopy today from VHO 4x95watts to 1x250watt 10K MH and 2x95watt VHO. I was running a 13 hour photoperiod. What is the best way to acclimate my tank. I cant really raise my canopy so I need to adjust the photoperiod. Would...

Interesting article about NO lights with SPS and Clams

I had what is considered by the old watts per gallon to be more than sufficient light (9.5)with VHO. Even by keeping the corals at the top, SPS would grow, but the color wasnt what I wanted. VHO's put out alot of light, but the intensity is lacking. There is no way that NO can put out sufficient...

    Help, losing hammer coral

Maybe it is something with your tank. I cannot keep a hammer coral in my tank. Frogspawn thrives and grows like crazy. Hammers retract and never fully open. I dont know why since hammers and frogspawns are so similar. I have tried different positions, water movement, everything. I just gave up..

Help MH Lighting experts...About to spend $$$$

I currently have a VHO full hood. I live close to the manufacter. They will rewire it for me for the cost of parts only. So I am only buying the 250 MH ballast and bulb. If I go bigger in the future I will need to buy a new canopy, But that is an expense I would have anyway. I figured the 250MH...

Help MH Lighting experts...About to spend $$$$

I thought about that Juggernaut. That is one of the reasons I liked the 1x250. It allows me to upgrade with minimal effort and cost. I would only need to add another 250 MH ballast and lamp. VHO's could be upgraded with only new longer bulbs. 75 gal..2x250MH w/ 2x110 VHO 100 gal..2x250 MH w/...

36 inch lighting..what would you do.

I may add MH to my tank. Would you do 1-250watt MH centered in the canopy or 2-175 watt MH. I'm leaning toward the one 250 watt due to acrylic tank and heat issues. What would you do?

    New Reef Tank Advise

Lose the damsel's...I know how it is with kids. They always ask me to stop buying "rocks" and get more fish. Damsel's are very agressive and territorial fish. If you leave the 10 in now and decide to reduce later, the one's you keep will be even more territorial. Last man standing syndrome.
