Criticize my sump/fuge plumbing design please!!!

Nope, the pre-filter cup is a hang overflow for non-drilled tanks utilizing a wet/dry system. It sits on the inside of the tank and uses U-tubes to transfer the water from the tank down to the wet/dry.

Criticize my sump/fuge plumbing design please!!!

Zane....decent design! I have tapped into my overflow bulkheads gong to my wet dry, that feeds into my my fuge and I've used a prefilter cup as a strainer for the fuge return to the sump to help keep somethings from getting into the sump and ending up in the display tank.

can you use regular silacone to seal a tank?

I've used 100% silicone for kitchen and bath that I got from Lowes on my 450 gallon plywood tank and have had no problems. If you read the label some of them will list usages for the silicone. If it's not recommended for aquariums it would say so on the tube.....so look carefully. If you have a...

    How to ground a tank...

I've been using a ground probe ever since I got a little shock from my tank one day feeding my Stonefish. One of my pumps was sending a small current through my tank. I think the cord was loose in the housing or something, but the grounding probe seem to work. I have also been told (don't know...

    How to ground a tank...

It's Easy.. The most common way, I think, would be to purchase a grounding probe from your LFS and installing ti should be a breeze. I have two, one on my tank and one for back-up. All it requires is to screw the pronged connector into your wall outlet using the mounting screw for your wall...

    Fuge

Hey guys I agree w/ RangerMonroe about using the weld-on, once it's on it's on, however, I also ran a bead of silicone (Aquarium Goop) along the joints after using the weld-on just in case. You can get the Aquarium Goop from Lowes and Home Depot, but you can also get the weld-on from: , they...

    mandarin question

I have tried mandarins in both applications, fish only and reef. The only thing to really concern yourself with is how many you will have at one time. Two male mandarins will fight, like beta's, until one dead. If I remember correctly, the long antennae, on the dorsal fin, indicates female and...

    Mag drive pump owners...

I'm using a Mag 18 on my 400 gallon reef, externally. It does make alot of noise, but it has not given me any problems. I also run a Mag 12 on my ETS, that I've had for 7years and still no problems. Best pumps I've ever had.

    Mag Pump Hazard

I had the same problem with my Mag 12, but I still have it and I'm using a ground probe which seems to be taking care of it. I have 2-Mag12's ,and 2-Mag18's and they are all working fine. I haven't replaced the pump just put in a grounding probe! Mag's are the shizznit...:p

    Filter systems

Hey man, have the store drill the holes for you. Prefilters tend to make a lot of noise if not setup right. Having an overflow inside the tank will eliminate all the noise factors and also keep all of your water movement inside the tank, thus eliminating excess salt creep on the the outside...

    Filtration

OK Everyone talks about REFUGIUMS but what about the plenum? Does anyone incorporate this feature into their filtering package? How hard would it be to utilize the plenum with a refugium or with any other type of filtering system?
