    Poly-filter or not-poly filter

Change them every two weeks or so - they say you can rinse them out and re-use is this true? Also do they remove vitamins like selcon or anything? So I should use it then?

    Poly-filter or not-poly filter

I have a small 44 gallon reef tank setup going. I already do bi-weekly water changes and add trace elements weekly for the great colors etc. But I always have problems with slightly high nitrates. I want to add a poly-filter but I read good things and bad. What should I do? If I add the filter...

    Brown Algae Bloom

I've had my 44 gallon reef tank set up for many years now and eveything was going fine until I decided to: 1. Replace the sponge in my sump divider 2. Add a polyfilter pad both at the same time. When I did this my corals shrank up, one fish died, and I've now go brown agea bloom on the portion...

When Can I add my new live rock

It's been soaking for over a day in it's own tub and the ammonia readings are normal. Should I wait longer or is it safe to add piece by piece now?

    HELP - Ammonia Problem

Here's the skinny Last week I switched filter system from canister to wet/dry. I lost 2 fish and still have 2 remaining (damsel and perc. clown). I have a 44 gallon tank. I must have broken the nitrogen cycle. Although I do have 25 or so of live rock. And I haven't done a water change. My tank...

How do conquer the Ammonia Battle!

I would tell everyone to get rid of their sea apple/sea cucumber. They are not meant to be in with fish because as soon as they become stressed they release their intestines and poison the entire tank - I lost 6 fish this was and the pet store guy told me it would be ok. Everything I read about...

    Ammonia Problem

The reason why I lost fish ( 2 tangs - sensitive to ammonia and nitrites) is because when I switched from canister to wet/dry I did not have connect the bio-wheel so I had not real biologic going outside the tank and I don't have enough live rock yet.
