If I remember and from looking at the pictures you have pretty fine sand. This probably isn't helping much. I used a mixture of medium and course sand in preperation for alot of flow. I don't run votechs but I do have over 50x flow.. You could try and put a layer of course sand on top but with the diggers it won't stay that way.

Yeah the sand is Uber fine..
The 40 is about 6" down from the top.. My lights are super close to the water so I would rather fix the sand once a month rather then have bulbs risk failure from ass loads of spray.. Thinking of getting the canopy off and a new one that's taller so I don't have to worry much about it.. In the pursuit of not leaving well enough alone.. I moved the 40 to try and silence a quiet pump and made it louder.. D'oh!! Back to reefcrest until I feel like messing with it some more..
