Staining. I love red. the wood grain shows better in reality that it appears in the picture, too subtle for the camera I guess.

Looks great!!
I have been thinking of doing something similar, except I dont have all the equipment "lying around" nor do I have the wood crafting skills.
But none the less, I cant wait till you cycle it and get some critters in it.
Keep the pics coming.

first coat of poly, now to let it dry then sand it then do it again.....
way back on the first post I thought I was going to have it all rigged upin one day, then I decided halfway through typing it it needed a custom hood. today is day three. we'll see how long it takes I guess.

Very cool post... Good job on the tank and stand... I'm a hobbyist woodworker and have a 2.5g tank also laying around and your idea has inspired me to maybe make a stand like yours.

heres it polyed and on the stand I still need to sand it and give it another coat later, and for those who were wondering what I could use for a sump the third pic is for you.

When I first saw the stained tank and stand, I thought, he's gota have a fuge!!!! and then there it was... You could use a maxijet 900 as the pump

Any one who has any ideas how to build a mini overflow feel free to chime in, keep in mind its a 2.5g so space is at a premium just the heater and filter tube take up a lot of space already. I cant drill the tank I dont have the bits.

Oh just a thought. Obviously I cant run a DSB in this little tank, I have the stuff to set up a plenum, any thoughts?

I knew you couldnt resist it!

Get a small strainer, or a measuring cup and drill it out, then you need some kind of container to hang on the back with a divider in it. :notsure: Maybe a 1/2 gallon milk jug cut down and glued together. Then use a piece if 3/8 poly tube for the syphon tube. Put A 3/8 JG on the bottom of the jug and use poly to go to the fuge. Then use poly to run it back up with a JG gate vale to dail it back if needed.
