So far so good, took a peak at him, and he was swimming around. OCEANGARDENS.COM did well with the shipping. Well packed and secure, definitely an A + ! I should start the acclimation at 5pm, for about 2 hours then into the QT for 3-4 weeks. I'll have pics tonight ! The question mark is my QT -?
Because I'm a little worried about the high Nitrite reading of 2.0
What does that mean-? Is it because of the bleach -?

Not sure what caused it, could be dieoff from the bleach. But Nitrites are bad, I don't think I'd put a fish in a tank that had such a high reading. 2.0 is quite high... even 0.5 is high.
When you did the bleaching, were the LR in the tank?

I've been thinking about it... not sure what I'd do. You put the fish in with high nitrites and it'll likely die. That's a lot of money. But on the other hand most puffers have ich when they're bought, so do you want to risk putting it in your DT that you just treated? Sorry, I'm not being much help...
One thing you can do is put lots of LR in the QT to get rid of the nitrites. But are you sure there is no more bleach in there? If there is, it'll kill off any LR you put in.

Do you have a LFS that can hold the fish for you until you get your QT straightened out?

2.0 trites is high. I dont even think very frequent water changes will help. That also wont allow to qt the fish correctly.
what about picking up a 30 gallon tank or a large cooler a big one on wheels on your way home. Then placing a heater in the tank with a powerhead for flow and just having a constant slow flow from your main tank and replacing the water? Then replacing the dt water with water changes?

I know guys, most likely he has ich. I did a water change twice on that tank, maybe the bleach leach onto the silcone and glass -? I did the bleach about a week ago, but before I did that, I took out the live rock and media from the hang-on filter. Mark from BZ gave me the advice. I had the live rock and media in the DT. No Pete, all the LFS around me I can't trust. Crypt, you just give me an idea. I'm heading home now, but I just remembered I have a brand new 20 gallon long tank in the garage, so can I used that as a QT-? I have the 10 gallons of water I mixed last night, maybe put that in the DT and put the DT water in the 20 gallon long -? Then just add another 10 gallon to the 20 gallon QT. But what do I use as a filter/media-?
Also, if I do go that route, what should I use to clean the powerheads and heaters from the 55 gal QT to clean off the bleach, before I put it in that 20 gal long QT -? THANKS

Careful with a puffer this large... they're very messy fish and need good bio-filtration. I think it's risky to put it in an uncycled tank, unless you put lots of LR in there, with good flow.

Just got homes, fish doing great. About to start the acclimation. But what should I do -? Which tank-?

The 55 is definitely out, the Nitrite is still high. So thats it for that. So either I put it in the DT or setup the 20 gallon long tank, with some live rock from the DT and a few powerheads from the 55 qt. What do you guys think -?

Hard to say man... I don't want to tell you to put it in the DT, even though that's what I'd do if it was my fish. But I have a totally different view on controlling ich, which has worked for me, I haven't lost a fish in 2+ years from diseases. But anyway, I don't know... if you do put it in the 20gal, I'm not sure if that's a big enough tank for a large puffer and you might not be able to keep the parameters in check, even with LR. So maybe you'll get some input from the other people here.

He about 5-6 inches, I'm floating him now. I took out a lot of live rock from my sump, which I was using for biological filtration in the 220. And I still have about 200 lbs more in the display, so I guess that's ok, right-? I washed out the two heaters from the 55, and the two powerheads and place them in the 20 gal. What should I do about the hang-on filter from the 55-? And few pieces of live rock -? I'll drain out the 55 and let it sit dry overnight, then wipe it down tomorrow and refill it. So before I drip this guy, do I look ok -? Thanks !

Yea, keep a close eye on the parameters in the 20gal. You can rinse the HOB filter really well and use it.

So, I'll check it everyday until I get the 55 ready. What should I do, to get it ready-?

You mean the 55gal QT? Just empty it, clean it and start over with it.
So how's the puffer doing? Any pictures?

Hey guys ! Well, everything went good last night ! Thanks for the help. Crypt, thanks for the tip, on the puffer, I would of never found out about it, if it wasn't for you
. And OCEANSGARDEN, a lot of respect to them. They were very helpful on the phone, sent me a pic before it was shipped, and everything went smooth. I will definitely buy from them again.
Pete, I empty the 55 last night, what should I clean it with. Also, do I have to cycle that tank, before I can put the puffer in there -? I'm going to clean up the Danner hang-on skimmer tonight, and put it on the 20 gal QT. Anyways........here are some pics I took out this morning. After I acclimated him last night, he went to the bottom and rested, this morning, he was up and swimming all over, I would say he's 6in long. The pics are a little blurry, because I didn't put the light on. I will put it on tonight. Enjoy guys !

I used vinegar and a tank scrubber to clean my old 65gal, then rinsed it well.
Hey, that's a great looking puffer! Hope he does well for you, they're very interesting fish with lots of personality.
