Kirk - the Asfur is awesome! The coloration is great for such a small specimen. Maybe I will be adding one to my list now :)

Great pics, you even got some of the "electric" blue of the Asfur. Sounds like the Sohal has the typical attitude; ideal fish for your tank, IMO.

Nice! The Asfur is a looker for sure. I bet the Sohal will be healed up in no time. The fins should be as good as new within 2 weeks.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Just 3+ days in and the Sohal looks 100% better, his wounds are healing, he is fattening up, and he is "coloring" up.
My Sunset Wrasse is a good 2 inches longer and must outweigh him by at least 4 times (he's pretty fat), yet the only fish the Sohal has taken a real interest in challenging is the Wrasse. The Wrasse wants no part of the smaller Tang, the Sohal flares his fins up and goes right at him, the Wrasse backs down completely. Frankly it's rather impressive, guess these guys didn't get their rep for no reason. I think my favorite description comes from the site where I purchased him from (which I of course won't mention), its written by Mark Martin whom has a book coming out in December.
Acanthurus Sohal
-Wide berth should be given to this Red Sea inhabitant as it’s aggression extends from Tangs to Parrotfishes, Triggerfishes and whatever else it may feel particularly displeased with. Plenty of space will give the aquarium inhabitants places to swim and hide away from this belligerent beauty.
"whatever else it may feel particularly displeased with"
I love that line.

Yeah, can't you see Hillary (I know, outdated humor) saying "Bill,I'm particularly displeased with your behavior!"?
Glad to hearing they're doing well! I was nervous about my Sohal, because of the reputation. So far, everyone knows he's boss and give him all the space he wants ; he'll be a little pushy and nippy, but hasn't viciously attacked any other fish. It's almost like he knows he's the Godfather and everyone else better know it too. I don't like giving human qualities to fish, but these guys just seem to "carry" themselves differently. Is the Asfur still doing well, I REALLY like these fish, all of a sudden.

Asfur is great, eats everything and is fat, looks right at home....Interesting note, he is missing one of his Pelvic fins completely. I email wetwebmedia asking if any chance of it growing back, and wondering if it likely happened being netted or if it could be a deformity at birth. My email was replied to by Bob Fenner whom asked if there was any scarring...I replied none whatsoever. He replied it was very likely that it was a birth defect and asked an interesting question..."Could this have been a captive breed fish? As it would have likely not survived in the wild." I know they are breeding Mac Angels, Asfurs, and Purple Tangs in Taiwan now, the only reason I figured not is that this fish is a good 3 inchs and captive breed fish are usually sold very small. I emailed Mark M. whom said he didn't think so (due to the same reason) but couldn't be sure as the fish had slipped through the cracks somehow and was not even in their inventory.

Fish gets by fine with just the one pelvic fin though, it's rather tough to notice it....I'm guessing about 3 years from now my wife will say "Hey, what happened to his fin?"

I read that a lot is going on in Taiwan and Thailand in the SW fish breeding business. I imagine security is equal to a nuclear weapons lab. They were breeding & exporting many of the more expensive FW fish for years before U.S. importers knew they were captive bred. I've seen how walleyes are artificially spawned in N. Wisconsin. Basically, they just net the fish at spawning time, strip the eggs from females and milt from males into a the same dishpan; where the eggs are fertilized. The fish are released and the fry hatched and reared in the hatchery. ( I imagine the Federal job title for these workers would be "fish masturbater".) Its a very successful program; but they don't have to deal with the fragile larval stages of so many SW fish. I wonder if this would work with SW fish? But, I'm sure its been tried. A couple good spawnings of Clarion or Conspic Angels could be quite profitable. With the prices some SW fish command, I imagine its just a matter of time before we can buy cloned fish. ( I can see the headline "Chicago Bear Fan clones Damselfish".)

Thanks guys...--, the small tank is not a "true Nano", its made by Eclipse...Here's the thread I started this morning
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/333490/kjrs-25-gallon
Against my better judgement, I may still add one more fish, it would likely be a medium sized angel...Black Velvet or Blue Spot, or Scribbled, or Personifer. The Sohal has given chase to everybody in the tank, but he for the most part ignores the 2 Triggers and the 2 Angels and focuses mainly on the 2 Wrasses, but they never go into hiding at all, just try to give him space, so I think it's ok. In other words, his mild aggression is not stressing anybody.

Think you have the room/load for more fish (esp. after looking at my future 125 list on paper
), though if you want to add another angel, definitely would consider adding him asap, before the Sohal learns how many fish are in there and doesn't want newcomers...

Was thinking the same thing...I have one eye on a Blue Spot Angel I may throw in when I order some stuff for the little tank, I may just use the 25 and QT him there for a bit...we'll see.

A BSA would be money, a beautiful fish. Though you really need to tell your boy Mark to get a better picture, that one online doesn't do a BSA any justice...
