Doing a great job Corey - I hope to be building some soon, I am going to have to pick your brain, thinking of a 32 x 32 scorp tank with LED's. Liking the things with stings.

Looks very sweet....What did you figure out for cutting the heat sink.......
I decided I'd sacrifice one of my 40T general purpos blades and throw it on the table saw. Did a fairly good job of cutting through the material. I thought of using a metal cutting blade but it would melt the material then I'd have to file off all the sharp edges everywhere. This way worked out easy and my blade is still usable to rough cut some wood.

Got a little work done on one of the pendants today. I got the acrylic skin just about done. Still need to make some slots or holes for the ventilation. The mount is also nearly finished. I thought about Al's suggestion earlier on about t.v. mounts and ended up finding some locally that should work perfect. Fully articulating, so I can adjust the pendants' distance from the screen and lift it up out of my way when time to clean the T.S. screen. Still need to clean this one up a bit, wire it up and then do the same for the other pendant.

Looks great Corey. A lot of thought goes into whatever your doing I've noticed. I wish i had that problem, or solution, whichever the case may be ;)

Corey curious about 2 things.....What is the space between the LEDs and splash shield.....Curious if you could run optics if you wanted......
Also curious as to what/might/could happen over time with the splash shields and being in close proximity to water and the absorption and warpage......Might not be an issue with a small unit, but started thinking on a larger build with the splash shield not really having support and over time would cause warpage. Any thoughts on switching to a poly for the DT build.....

Thanks for noticing, Josh. I've put in an awful lot of work on pretty much all aspects of this build so far. I know it's taking a while to complete but at least I'll know I'll be happy when I get there.

Looks very good Corey.....I like the TV mounts....Did you use stainless for your screws....
Stainless bolts yeah, but I couldn't find extra stainless washers/lock washers in the size I needed up at lowes today. So I've settle for zinc plated for now until I can get find some elsewhere. I'm thinking of coating all of the hardware with some black grease perhaps. I can always wipe it off if I need to disassemble anything. And should offer some good moisture resistance.

Space is about 7/8" Shawn. Pretty sure there's just enough space for optics, yeah. We'll see how the warpage goes. I picked up a couple of pre cut sheets of Optix acrylic for the shields. And I've got them to they fit fairly snug. I can always adapt to lexan if need be. The cost is reasonable enough.
I'll post some more pics of the process tomorrow when I tidy things up a bit more. Still got a ways to go before she's done.

Gettin ready to go out and play around in the garage some more.
Here's a few more pics of the rig though.

I wanted everything to be removable for maintenance purposes...

Shawn, the fans are just pressure fit with weather seal. Works great and should cut down on any vibration...
You can see the channel that I cut right down the middle of the fins. This will allow the air flow to be forced to escape via the vent holes that I plan to make on the case. They will be drilled on both ends of the case inbetween the fins. This should allow for maximum cooling effect...

Mounting bolts are easily removed as well. These new heatsinks from rapid are really nice. They make it pretty easy to come up with mounting solutions...

And the built in channel for the splash shield is a nice bonus.
