3 gallon Pico Diary

Just added 8 lbs of Live rock from my 1 year old 10 gallon, and about an inches worth of sand, 3/4 from the same 10 gallon and 1/4 of dry aragonite
I was wondering though, how much of a cycle am I actually going to get?

I will post pics as soon as I can
(I have decided that this tank is dedicated to my dearly departed 10 gallon, RIP, or should I say pieces)

Wow, thats fast!

WELL you are using all established stuff...right? So the worst that can happen is you stir something up.....if so it will filter out and do a water change

BAY...I wouldn;t worry too much about a heater until you see how the temp is after a while.....3g's...you are probably gonna be looking at having to keep it cooler
Tank is nice...are you gonna add any more rock...to make any caves?
Even if you have no fish, caves (IMO) look nice

Your probably right, it gets pretty hot here during the summer, and I had a hard enough time keeping my ten gallon cooled down
I didn't really think about caves for this one, but now you've got me thinking...

Hey Nissan, What size heater are you using in your pico?
I have a 10 W "flat" heater in my 5 gallon pico, it keeps it above room temperature, but doesn't do alot beyond that. My tank stays around 74 which seems to be fine for everything in the tank. I will probably take it out during the summer

Mine is currently at 72, so even that would help
I was looking at the Hydor mini 15 watt, maybe just like you I can take it out during the summer
(I may even have to get a fan for the summer)

Yeah I am not sure what I'll be doing for the summer... I'm considering getting a small plug in ac for my place since they don't have AC near the beach here.
On another tank temp note, I covered two sides of my tank (back and side against the wall) with foam stock (Poster board) to avoid excessive temperature fluctuation. (this can be done on the bottom as well)

Anyone know how to get an anemone to release its foot without hurting it?
Im preparing to move my mini anemones to this tank but dont know how to go about it. Do I have to break the rock apart or can I get them to release?

I have heard (read) you can use ice...place it next to the foot and it should release....I myself have nevertried this
