Ive heard from multiple sources that the government is holding back the exact amounts of snow that is expected- upwards of 40 inches. Though the Accuweather guy yesterday did say it could be upwards of that much. Someone that works at Reagan airport tower has said that theyve been told to be prepared for upwards of 40 inches of snow- .
A buddy of mines mother works for a news agency (luckily have off Friday and Saturday but am scheduled in the office on Sunday- 60 mile drive for me), but they are telling anyone that normally works Friday should bring enough food/medicine and essentials for FOUR days, as roads will be blocked for that time period. My mom also told me that a coworker who works higher level govt said that that its being with held to prevent panic.
PLEASE KILL ME.

One of the weathercaster's here in San Antonio was talking about that storm. He was saying something about the storm carrying 3" of precipitation, and that for every 1" of wetness, you get approximately 10" of snow. So I guess that equates to a potential of 30" dropping on you witrh this storm. Just another reason I live in the South.

Been there, done that. If you can Knock the snow off your roof at some point during the storm. If it's the wet sticky stuff a few feet will mess with your roof.

omg....I'd shoot myself. Although we are getting the trifecta of the St Louis area. Its the worst. First rain, then temp drops, that freezes, THEN sleet....lots of it and then to add insult to injury.. SNOW. That has been the reciepe for years that we have gotten that causes many days of power outages.

you bet cha
They are so loud though. I wish we could afford one of those whole house gens. A friend of ours just built a huge house and put one in.
In the past we have had wicked cold with the outages, and we have a hard time with that. This won't be sooooo cold but still a mess. As of right now 11:30ish CST they are waffleing as they always do. We are just in that center track of the storm where if it hangs to the north we get more warmth into the storm and if it pushes toward the south we are S.O.L. tooooo much cold sets in.

Me, too. They run on natural gas and come on automatically. Pretty cool, but I think they run about $10K.
