Yeah $150.00.....Actually I seen quite a few over the $300.00 price range...I was even checking out some custom speaker covers reserved for audiophiles and such that are discriminate about their equipment.....I think if I spend that much money on a cover/grill my wife would drown me in the tank.....

I don't think it would be super complicated to fab something using slats, and dowels, but just the thought/theory doesn't seem bad, but probably a little tedious once I start into it. What's your thoughts as far as trimming out the rest of the canopy?

You might want to check out this site, Shawn. http://www.ennospace.com/woodshop/in...vents.html?p=4
Trimming the canopy...I would think something similar to the stand would look nice. I would say do some crown but not sure if that would work...if you'd be able to open it or not.

Sorry for the slow response...having computer issues and work schedule conflicts....
I think the measurements on the speaker are 16" x 10" or 18" x 12". I have the measurements at home trying to go from memory though... What did you see?

Seen some more of the return grills for more reasonable prices...the second link above has some cool ones with some nice patterns cut in them.
Still going to be around $100 though for something that would cover 18 x 12. for the pattern ones.

I like the insert, Shawn. If it were my choice, I would use it.
Ya almost gotta hate to put a finish on it. Freshly sanded wood looks so clean.
I agree... That's why I almost hate looking at darker stains, and the light stuff like honey oak and such is just rather plain/boring to me...... Still waiting for other suggestions on stain choices. I saw an awesome build on the other forum and the canopy is so sweet!!!! I'll have to get a pic and post it, bot that is real talent though.

I'm just gonna throw this out there since you stated you spent a good deal on the system.
The covers, grills, cloth, ect, is all figured into the making of the speaker. By changing the cover of the speaker your gonna change the dynamics of it. I'm not sure how much you spent and how picky you are about your sound, but its something I would consider.
The other thing is, does the other speaker face it? What I mean is, is it mounted the same way to the room. I don't have my bearings of the room. What I'm getting at is the tank is going to add a big reflective surface to the room as well.
Just thoughts man. Not sure how big a deal any of it is.

Not a big sound guy by any means.... As long as I get my sound for Nascar could honestly care less. I do understand what your saying though.... What recommendations do you have?
Sorry should have mentioned yes the other speaker is mounted the same facing it.

If your not really into it, then all the specifics don't really matter much. It seems like what evere the end result is, you'll be just as happy as you are now. What I was referencing is really for the geeky folks. Guys with tube traps and sound pannels on the walls.

Definitely not into all that. Like good sound don't get me wrong, but it's more about aestetics to me....Just looking for some options.

If I were to guess, I would say that your dealing with the rear channel. No? If so, looking at the pics from page 17 post # 255 I believe.......I assume you would like the face to wrap around the corner there and look some what seemless. Have you thought about cutting the face board, glueing it back together for stability? You know, rip it down a few times and glue it back together either with or without biscuts. Then cutting out a scroll'ish type shape to allow the sound to come thourgh? This would give the most flat look to the face board. You may have to relieve the back for the speaker grille a little bit. Or, shim out the face board. Then either paint the grille of the speaker black, or use black speaker cloth on the inside of the cut out to hide the speaker???
Your in a tough spot IMO. Just how to do it?? I feel you. I think the answer lies in what you think is "acceptable".

Thanks!!!! I know doesn't seem Luke any easy solution!!!!! Your correct the rear channel. I do want to make it appear seamless as possible by wrapping it around.
Not quite sure I'm following you on cutting the face down into strips and gluing or biscuits back together..... I am following you on the pattern on the front and the speaker cloth behind the face. I had thought about relieving the back of th face to fit the speaker.... Can you elaborate alittle more on your idea of cutting strips?????? Thanks!!!!

Yea, sorry.
I believe by ripping down the boards and then gluing them back together you get a more stable board. Like making a table top or a wide shelf, ect. Think, cutting board. This will help you if you decide to cut out the scroll type shape. Your delicate pieces that are hanging in the design, wont be so apt to split or warp over time.

Man, it's been so long since we had an update I can't even smell the epoxy anymore.
Hey I had a question about your wave box. Does the box have a specific function in helping to create wave action or is it more or less a place to hide the equipment? Just currious.
