5 Gallon tank build

Hi Everyone, just wanted to say hello, I have been reading this thread and just finished all 19 pages of patrick's nano tank thread. I am brand new to salt water, not fish in general, and got a killer deal on a biube tank at my LFS. I've decided to create a unique tank due to the design and am just researching right now on how to start. Currently I am cycling the tank with live sand, pre mixed salt water with boost from LFS, and some live rock. I will start my own thread in a few weeks once the tank has cycled more with just what it currently has. Just wanted to say hello and thank the active members on their advice. I have been a moderator b4 on car forums and appreciate active members to help us nubs.

Also another question, i do eventually plan on adding some coral. My filter is normal used for about 10-20 gallons and puts out some pretty good flow would a powerhead really be needed?

You have to make sure there are no dead spots.....5G is pretty small, BUT they make nano powerheads.....you might want one to blow across the back of the tank
just watch the sand for any type of build up
frozen brine shrimp has no nutrition......look for mysis....and you can soak the brine in vitamins....BUT for what you have I am talking a very minimal amount of food

Flow is not just for corals.....it will actually benefit the tank as far as algae and other stuff by keeping the water moving

its been about a week, I have decided i am going to upgrade to at least a 20 gallon at the end of august. Depending how much room i have in the house. There was a sale at my LFS so i decided to get a few things. A week ago i purchased a small clown and a skunk cleaner shrimp. I also got a frog spawn for 10 dollars because there is only one head left two of them have died. Pics Coming soon

also i was just wondering how do you lower nitrates?
since your tank is only 3 weeks old it still going threw the initial cycle, nitrates will go down when the bacteria that consumes it multiplies to handle the load. since you have added more load you may need to help out your corals by doing water changes (corals can not handle high nitrates).

i just did a water change yesterday, i do test my water every morning and all of my readings were at 0. which is why i decided to add the coral. i do about 5-10% each week. Like you said to keep the nitrates down. As for now i don't plan on adding anything else for awhile. As for upgrading would someone be able to tell me the easiest way possible to do this? If i can get everything in order i may be able to upgrade sooner. please let me know thank you

As for the dead I would let nature take care of it and yes it will grow new heads.
