testing the powerheads. the powerhead for the Aquac remora works, but the Seio is pooched it acts like it wants to spin but I cant get it going, I'm going to give it a soak in vinegar and try again.
also a picture of where I might locate the tank, right next to my other one, my signifigant other kind of wants it in the office but I have a 4x4x2 foot iguana cage there right now and no other place to put the iguana. any one want an iguana?
but I am going to leave the tank there for a couple days while I work on other things (tank related) to see If I like it there.

I am filling the tank right now for the leak test. lets Pray.
I have decided on only a ten gallon sump to maximize storage space under the tank stand for my fragging supplies, to try and get organized a little better, right now all my fragging stuff is just kind of tossed into a closet with hno shelves along with all my extraneous tank supplies, so as you can imagen once stuff works its way to the bottom of the pile it take a bit of work to find it.

Uhhhhh. bad start for a first time fill...
I over filled it, Water everywhere

I dried it down with a towel, no evident leaks yet. I'm going to give it a while to be sure.
I have my overflow cleaned out and hooked up. I just realized I dont have a long enough return tube..... darn. I also dont have a proper fitting for the end of the return line.. maybe I'll go pick up some Pvc and fashion a split return to spread the flow out more...... hmm. this bears some thinking I really want to cheap out as much as possible. maybe I have some stuff kicking around that I can use.
time to go dig around in the workshop and parts closet.

you might want to put your PH's in too. I have heard thatputting them in gives a more acurate result if your going to have leaks or not.
That's just what I heard.

yeah I am going to build a rack system for it and go with a DSB (I already have the sand for it) I figure maybe 8 inches of sand.

fortunatly I just installed hardwood parquet flooring so it was just a matter of toweling the water up.

I dont know, how everyone else does it, but I know I wouldnt want a loose frag attaching to a bare glass bottom. I would rather it had sand down there to attach to.

I am also going to use the DSB to raise the level of the bottom. and for its denitrifying effect.

they usually are BB because people put serious flow in frag tanks (usually built for catering the needs of SPS tanks). once you go beyond a certain level of flow, and depending on the device you will get a massive sand storm.
