Alright I will go glass then, if that's the safest bet. How should I have them atached though? Like one touching the bottom the middle one touching the top and the last touching the bottom too, or top>bottom>top? Do you get what I am saying, I can't make a diagram really on the comp so I hope I can explain well enough.
You are reffering to the bubble trap??? Bottom > 1"- 2" off bottom < Bottom

hey guys just wanted to clue you all in about what's going on with my tank. I disasembled the plumbing again last night so I could have a the overflow run to both sides of the sump one being the skimmer the other being the fuge. I will be ordering all the goodies I need to get her cycling this thursday and she should be up and cycling friday. So pumped for this!
hope to get some replies or thoughts about what's happening with me and my tank. Thanks guys!

Well I was told that you should have about 25% of your water flowing thru the fuge and the other 75% going thru where the skimmer is and your return should be in the middle. You want as much contact time in the fuge as your can get... so that is why you only want to have 25% of the water running thru there.. Ask Corey (2Qills) he can tell you more about it..

Keep us posted on your progress. If it were me, I'd probably save the plumbing as the last thing I do. Once you can get your sump and all your equipment in place then you'll know excactly where everything will end up. I'd hate to see you have to re-do it again. JMO

so guys I found a great deal on a 29 gallon complete setup. I'm talking tank, stand, eclipse hood modded with 65w pc lights, live rock, live sand, heater, the works pretty much, $125 couldn't beat that! Plus I may also be picking up a cpr bal pak skimmer that I may use on the 36 until I can afford the octopus. It also comes with 3x 3 lined damsels and a 19" snowflake eel which I will be trading in for some softie corals and a rusty angel if they are reef safel. Are rusty angels, reef safe or should I stick with a coral beauty? This tank will be being transplanted from his home to mine thursday, so no pictures till then!

well nice deal!!!!! When you get it trade the damsels for what ever else but damsels there evil!! A rusty is caution but in a 29 even more of a risk with corals so is a coral beauty soo its eaither way. If you keep the rusty you can realy only get 2 more fish(small),same with a cb you should.

yeah I am getting rid of those darn damsels! I may go with just some corals instead of a angel what do you guys think? What would be a good stock list?

You could do some corals and then add a pair of Maroon Clownfish and keep them as the only tings in the tank, maybe add a Anemone later on when the tank is mature enough, Thats what I had thought about doing with a 29 at some point!!!!

You do know that mandarins need LOTS AND LOTS of pods....and should only go into mature tanks...preferably with a refugium to breed the pods

Yea mandarins takes lots o pods. You can do what I plan on doing. At the 6 month mark of my tank being up and running, purchasing the pods from here, swf.com, and placing them into my fuge in the LR rubble that I have in a corner of my fuge. I will then be sure to keep an eye on my glass at night to see ifthe pod population is going up or down. If its going up, yippie and i have about 6 months to wait. If its going down, its time to put more pods in and more LR rubble into the fuge for a better home. Once I hit the 9 month mark, I have to make a LR rubble home in the DT for the pods. Then its just 3 months til the mandarin comes home.

What you have to understand about Dragonets (Mandarins, Scotter Blenny, Ect) That their Natural food source is Pods. Yes, ORA has been successful in tank breeding Madarins and getting them to eat prepared foods, but you should also provide them with their natural food source also. They eat a ton and if you are only feeding them once or even twice a day they will need something to graze on when not being fed, that is why it is suggested that you also have a good pod population, and somewhere that the pods can breed and replenish themselves like a Refug. This is JMO but some of the others here with more experience hopefully will chime in here and give you some better advice on keeping a Mandarin. Hope this helps..

You can keep a mandarin or a scooter blenny, what you need to figure out is how to breed copepods for them.
You can hang a basket on the inside of your tank with a few pieces of rubble rock and macroalgae and the pods have a place to breed. Buy some pods and seed your basket...the lights from your tank will be enough for the macro to grow. Beaslebob also said you can section a small area with egg crate in the back of the tank, add some light and there you go a nice place where pods can grow unmolested.
The hang on the back filter can be converted for the purpose as well...so you have lots of choices. I am going to be getting rid of my sand sifter so I may get me a scooter blenny or mandarine down the road after my sump is up and running and the refugium gets established.
