In court there is a difference between mistake and negligence, big difference. A mistake would be someone accidentally flipped a swich they shouldn't have or opened the wrong valve. Negligence would be using a valve you knew was bad because you didn't have another or continuing to do work on a well after a test showed there was an issue with it.
Well that articles makes me believe negligence was the cause.

I'm guessing the engineers know what they are doing but I was wondering if it were possible to not cover it right, pressure builds and then boom ... the pressure explodes out.
Happens on land. I remember years ago hearing a story about an improperly abandoned well letting go in a guy's living room in Newport beach. Had the guy been in the room he would have been killed and that was an old well that wouldn't have had this kind of pressure when it was new.

Well, know what they're doing, nah, they're experimenting... But smart enough where it isn't a WAG. Yeah...

You're right. Everything that they attempt to do comes with the disclosure ... "this has never been attempted at 5,000 feet". Lots of unforeseen variables at that depth.

So while the gulf states are still waiting for the feds response to their request for a permit to build berms along the coast to keep oil out of the wetlands the Ossiah attended a fundraiser in California last night. Remember how the media skewered Bush for just flying over after Katrina? Yeah, no EXTREME liberal bias in the media

It seems the administration is just telling BP to deal with it and the gov't is staying away. I read an article this morning about Gibbs secretly telling the media to not ask so many oil spill questions. Not sure if that is true but it made for an interesting read. BUt you know the current admin is all about being transparent! The gov't did just give BP the go ahead on the top kill method. If this doesn't work, I don't think BP has anymore "qucik" fix ideas.

Don't forget saying the fed's boot (well designer loafer) is on the throat of BP... (You like that pun I thought it was cleaver) Bush wears boots.

Just heard that the White House was calling in some reporters to discuss "privately" the questions they had been asking about the leak. Evidently they don/t like some of the tough questions they've been asked. If that's true you have the white house scolding reporters for doing their jobs. Nixonian, just Nixonian.

Blame Bush has worn really thin with everyone but the brain dead left. The Dems try that on the spill at their own peril. There are some bloggers claiming Bush relaxed the regulation but when pushed none have given a specific example. BP has now acknowledged they knew something was wrong and kept working anyway. No regulation will solve that.

You know what is even more disgusting than the oil spill is the way the politicians are using our money for their feel good/bad dog and pony show. Why in the hell are we wasting time and money to have people go testify to Congress who worked the rig but have no idea what happened and weren't even involved in the procedure that led to the accident

Yawn. That is such a horrible argument. I can go quote 100 dummycrats who said they did too. And I can find 100's of democrats who voted for war. Only to change their tune when they saw a political opportunity. And people like you support them. But hey don't let reality stand in your way.

Let's keep the personal attacks to yourself Mister... the only war my husband and I ever supported was/is the war in Afganistan because Osama Bin Laden bombed us on 9/11/01 Bush saw an opportunity to get Iraq after 9/11 to satisfy his own agenda of getting the man who wanted to kill daddy... trying to win his daddy's love when we all know Daddy liked Jeb better and thought W was just a screw up. that is reality not the Rhetoric filled world some choose to live in.
