Poor BP Can't catch a break. I went to a seminar years ago and the speaker was talking about being involved in a PR stunt where a couple birds were being released after being cleaned up after a spill. So they release the first bird which was a hawk of some kind and it takes off and soars overhead. Then the release the second bird which was a small duck of some sort. Duck flies off and the hawk comes in and nails it. Sometimes you just can't catch a break.

So last night's speech was a joke. Like most politicians, O politicized the spill in hopes of getting his energy plan passed. What kills me is how is kept saying the gov't would be with the gulf people every step of the way until this mess is resolved, blah blah blah ... he didn't lay out any plans ... all effen talk.

Hearings at this point are a waste of the taxpayers money. Jackass politicians just can't wait to put on their dog and pony show though

I watched about 30 minutes at the gym and I 100% agree with what you said. The guy's answers to most of the questions were "I don't remember", "I can't answer that question", ....
Total waste of money. Hey gov't, lets plug the fn hole first and then worry about putting on a lame ass show.

Yeah, I watched a little too and it just reminded me why I don't like politicians or CEO's of large companies.

What really disgusts me is Kevin Costner trying to take advantage of the spill to force BP to buy his oil contraptions.

I heard his name on the radio in the car today, but missed what they were talking about. I was wondering if it was the actor, or someone else. So what is he pushing now?

Machines that will pull oil out of water. Might be usefull in confined conditions but it just seems sleazy the way he is using his congressional tesimony to try to hype them. His only experise seems to be providing the money to develop them.

I would have put the state police on the barges and sent them back out. Why in hell couldn't the coast guard have inspected the barges as they were working? They do that all the time out at sea.

At some point the conspiracy theory in me wants to come out and there is no way Obama is going to let a republican take credit for anything even at the expense of our country...

But more government involvement is the solution...not the problem. While they are at it lets make 7 more agencies and get them involved in this.

They want this to continue to further their cry for cap and trade.

"From the moment the organizer enters a community he lives, dreams... only one thing and that is to build the mass power base of what he calls the army. Until he has developed that mass power base, he confronts no major issues.... Until he has those means and power instruments, his 'tactics' are very different from power tactics. Therefore, every move revolves around one central point: how many recruits will this bring into the organization, whether by means of local organizations, churches, service groups, labor Unions, corner gangs, or as individuals."
"Change comes from power, and power comes from organization." p.113
"The first step in community organization is community disorganization. The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization. Present arrangements must be disorganized if they are to be displace by new patterns.... All change means disorganization of the old and organization of the new." p.116

Cap and trade is probably dead till after November. There are some Dems up for election who just can't vote for it right now. Not sure if they can leave the bill in limbo until after that or not. Not sure passing it out of a lame duck session would go over really well anyway.

BP's CEO has just been demoted:

Meanwhile Obama's approval hits new low:

And here at work, a foam fabricating company, we are in total chaos. The foam fabrication industry, in the last 2 days, has exploded with orders, rumors of orders and conflicting required specifications for polyethylene foam oil boom flotation inserts. No one seems to know what they want, but they want it NOW! Volumes are truckloads per day, 7 days/week until....
Somebody up the food chain is in total panic....
