In my humble opinion they are well designed for seperating hobbiests from their money. I can see no possible use for some PVC and a few button magnets.

I think a UV Sterilizer is lightyears ahead of this thing. It's basically a couple of PVC pipes with button magnets taped to one with electrical tape. I lost a lot of respect for some of the big names that tried to push these things on unsuspecting hobbiests a few years ago.

i have had one for about 3 days now, my water is now super clear, my protein skimmer is skimming almost black liquid, and my water parameters particularly nirate has come way down. i have mine on a 75 gallon. at one time protein skimmers and uv sterilizers were considered to be a waste of money and were said not to do anything. and enter the discount code of 227fish and it will knock off about 20 bucks and its got 180 day garauntee. i am happy with mine so far.

Just what does this thing do with all the crap it supposedly kills, just dummps it right back in the tank to start feeding another batch of junk. My water is crystal clear with a hob mechanical and a skimmer, so I sure do not see what it could do for my tanks except put a dent in my wallet. I do use a UV unit but its on an outside ornamental fish pond, never had a need for one indoors where water parameters and other conditions are easier to keep right.

We've got one on our 125 reef and the water does stay clear, but I really don't know for sure if it is actually working or not. The fish are healthy, and the corals look good. Still got 140 some days left on the warranty, so I'll give it at least most of that and see what happens. It was just one i=of those things to try.

Anyone have an update on this miracle item.......thumbs up or down? Its been some time now since a few posts were initiated on this item, and some folks swore by them then. Wonder if there opinion is still the same now as it was then.

If you look at one of these that has been taken apart you will quickly come to agree with the general opinion of these items.

Hey Bang, see my other post on the new filter. I did find one at a thrift store, and in the end took it apart to get the magnets for a different project.

I agree..My brother had one and we just had to take it apart to see how it worked.....He sent it back after 2weeks....If you want some thing just get a turbo twist I like mine and so does my brother....Do they work??? I don't know. I do know my water is clear more so than without it. and no more diatoms. That its self is worth the $$$......JMO

It claims you will not have to do water changes, put that is the only selling point. And IMO you can not get buy with out a water change every month. The point of the water changes is to add fresh, clean water and more elements that are lost or used by the tank mates. So as far as this thing being good bang for your buck, I vote no.

A vortex ditom filter can do the same thing. if that eco device kills or binds loose particles in the water they just go backin to the tank as a heavy partical. Where the diatom filter can be used once a week to clean the gravel, or run for 24 hours to clean the tank, and has a 1 micron filter that will REMOVE free floating matter from the tank . A better use of $75

Ok we are shutting down our 125 because of moving and not having room for it, plus our work schedules lately have preempted us from spending the time needed on the tanks. But after having one of these ecoaqualizers on it for a year and a half, and with our lack of upkeep at times, I would say that this thing works. We have not had a sick fish, and have had no real problems with the tank except for a xenia meltdown or 2. I firmly believe this thing works. I sold off a large portion of the rock today, got the water all cloudy and stirred up, but after refilling with water from our former qt to get the pumps running again and to keep whats left in there alive, I went back to the house about 4 hours later, and the water was crystal clear, and the fish were all happily swimming around looking for a handout. It may seem like a gimmick, but In my opinion, it does something that works. I will keep this device just in case we set up another tank in the future.

Hmmm...
I have perfectly clear water, healthy animals and corals, and perfect levels across the board. Yet I have no aquaequalizer. Therefore, it's unnecessary.
This is exactly the same reasoning at play when we say, "I have one and I have good results...therefore it's necessary." The fact that the sun comes up when the rooster crows doesn't mean that the rooster is making the sun come up. They just coincide.
I don't mean any offense by this; I just mean to suggest that we should be cautious about buying into things where it isn't clear how or why they work...especially when they're espensive.
Of course, I do have an ORP meter, ozone producer, UV sterilizer, and more...so I probably shouldn't talk.
