I can just see Shawn biting the heads off of some German Nazi gummi bears and having a smoke and a drink while doing it. Serves them right though, huh?
Some of my best years were spent in Germany......Ohhhh the beer, the food....ohhh did I mention beer......Lots of gummy bears.....The factory was just at the base of the mountain.......

When I look at it in black and white I'd say that my current choice of plug and play would probably be the new A.I. Vega Color's. They seem to have some punch, with the color and capabilities that you're after, Luv. But that could change with the next latest and greatest thing so take it with a grain of salt.

Agree with the AI Vega, but Eco has something up there sleeve.....Their controller already had "space/headroom" built in and you knew it was coming or is coming......I think the big key is correct color combos at this point.....

Yeah, you told me about that. I'm completely jealous that you got to go. I wish I could travel and see a few things in my life.

I'd also say this... I like the vega colors... and for the price, I think it's worth it to have that capability. Keep in mind though that the controller for it is an extra $80 and there are a few complaints about it so far. I'm waiting for the sale, baby! lol

Haven't read the full thread on it, but what complaints on the controller.....
number one complaint is that it doesn't come with a unit and that it costs so dang much. lol.
Second complaint is that it has to be plugged in to be used - it's not wireless. So, you absolutely have to attach it somewhere on your stand.
Third complaint is that because you have to keep it close to (plugged in) to your tank, the controller doesn't have any kind of mounting system to the stand. Though, this problem is easily fixed with some picture hanging velcro.

Ahhh I have read that then, but other than not being included with the unit and cost.....not bad......Wireless would have been a major bonus IMO......

Maybe next gen will be wireless.....I'd like to see 1 of the major players incorporate into "their" controller capability to control various manufacturers PH's.....

Me too, I'm hoping so.
Just think about it... sitting on the couch, grab a controller to your TV and to your tank. Turn the TV on and put your tank on "rain storm mode." I don't know which one I would watch more. lol With that Vega color demonstration, I was half expecting that song "Do the hustle" to start playing ... because of all of the disco lights. lol

That's why I'd never buy plug and play, myself. Who in the heck needs 30 timers on a controller with more features that I'd never use? Every other year these guys are coming out with a new style, new look and more features. Upgrade abilities are there but you're still locked into their design.
All I need is what Luvmyreef was talking about. Fade in/out times over a handful of channels, that's it. Set it and forget it. If I'm too lazy to get off the couch to adjust my lights then something seems wrong here. Wireless controllers are purely marketing tactics to keep up with the Jones's. But at least A.I. is a little more reasonably priced. Ecotech as with everything that they put out is still rediculously over priced for what they are selling as I'm sure we will see again with whatever they come out with.

There are guys using the Apollo Reef systems and with the Apex creating all the special affects others are paying top dollar for.....

The apollo lights seem to be nice. I have just looked at several tanks with them on the web. Although, it would take three for my tank and the apex controller. Not to mention, finding a way to hang them since I have no canopy. Something to consider. I am about to pay 240 to replace my m. halides. bullbs. They are 80 a piece for the ones I want. It would be nice to stop paying for these bulbs and go with leds.....

Has anybody taken a look at those maxspect razor r420r's yet?

I seen that Aqua illuminations has come out with some new style mounting rails and such as well. Or have they had these?
