Anyone around here still playing astrowars? Anyway a new round is about to be kicked off in 8 days and I though perhaps there were still some old players around. The NEMO alliance did pretty well this round fending off naves and NAP breakers. Unfortunatly I heard the sister alliance OMEN didn't do so well this round. But its all in clean fun. your welcome to join by the way, doesn't cost anything and you are allowed to take over entire systems if you dare. Check it out.

Just setup the accound and plink around for the next few days and see if you can get the hang of it. Then contact the Galactic Nemo's or the OMEN alliance for protection and guidence.

Here is a thread that was started awhile ago that answers some questions about the game.
I played once as BETHOS and actually, somehow, through no skill of my own I can assure you
managed to be contacted by one of the top players to join his alliances. In the end, even got to do some hard battling for the final battle.
Fun game, once you understand it and start fighting, or farming. It can be a little boring the first couple of wks. If you can't deadicate time every day, then don't play. Which is why I haven't play again.
Astrowars has a a hobbyist connection in that many aquarists have joined, forming the NEMOS. Pretty cool

You resurrected my old thread!
I'm still playing. After playing with several other alliances, I returned to the NEMOs this past round myself. We are between rounds now. You can start now and just try to figure out the basics. The next round starts April 2nd.
I don't lurk around these boards much anymore. However, I am available for advice about this game if anyone needs help. http://www.astrowars.com/register/?r=45469 :D

It does start out slow, you get 1 point every hour, after 5 hours you spend that on Robotics, this will give you 2 points per hour. Meanwhile as your population on the plant grows from 1 to 2 this will give you another point, 3 points per hour it gets quicker paced the more time goes by. Takes some time to get the hang of it.

dont know why it says taht...i registered and started for free.....
you it be really mean to attack someone?? since it starts over in just a few ddays it doesnt matter right??
i noticed they like communication in this game...so what all does that mean? do i need to declare attacks etc?

No you do not have to declare attacks, however if and when you get into the alliance's and politics of the game you can develop NAP's or none aggression pacts, the only warning here is NAP breakers are severely delt with by just about anyone. To our Credit the NEMO alliance has NEVER broken a NAP, but there have been alliances that have broken the NAP with us and they paid severely for it, as in other alliances ganged up on the NAP breakers.
But you can outright attack someone, but check to see if they are part of an allinace first, otherwise you might be attacked right after by 15 other people.

End of game who cares practice now.

This thing looks really cool, but they don't have any space on the server at the moment, so hopefully I can get one of the new places that they make today.

Here is one of my system mates profile, when you go to the map, click on a person you may see an alliance name next to the user name. In this case you see the word NEMO, if you were to click on the NEMO you would see all of the alliance members pop up with scores and such.
To take a free planet you need to send a colony ship, usually with a fighter escort is wise. In order to take over a planet with say a 6 population you will need to send 6 transports + fighter escort. You must win the battle so that the transports can take over the planet. It is usually wise to send 7 transports to make sure the job is done right.
Take time to read over the glossary if you can find it.
Notice his culutre level is 20, this would allow him to own 20 planets.

We are currently planing a time to mass log into the game, we are not sure when that will be. Check the Galactic Nemo board, tell them you know Elfdoctors and myself (TBViper in game) They may let you join us or refer you to the OMEN alliance.

awesome, ok...what happens when you all do a mass sign on..a massive attack of planets?....so is there a way to cancel a ship moving...i did it wrong i think...i sent two destroyers to a planet, they have 2 starbases...so i dont know what that means,lol..

When we log on we want to be in the same general area so that we can coordiate, protect and expand from that area.
There are 12 planets in each system. 4 players are typically placed in a system to start. We hope when we do the mass log on for the first time starting a game round that we will have 3 or 4 NEMO's in each system. We try to time it right. As the grid of the universe unfolds we usually wind up getting spread out in a line, we then defend that line and make that particular space a NEMO alliance area. We do small fighting to control the area, by midgame the battles increase with larger and larger fleets. As an alliance we send several hard hitting NEMO's into a system, the back fill with the folks who have open culture and are able to take a new planet.
After the mass log in we can log in anytime, but the first log in during the game is critical so that we are in the same general area.

Once launched there is no way to recall the fighters, a 2 star base is usually going to have to be taken out by at least 3 destroyers, more if the person has + to attack or defense. Usuall send a good fleet to be sure. If taking over the planet you will need the same amount of transports as the population shows+1 to be sure.

This is one reason that OMEN was invented as a practice alliance, OMEN backard is NEMO

Its kinda like this, those that don't measure up in the Majors (NEMO) can be send down to the minors (OMEN) and vice versa. Some are drafted from OMEN every round to NEMO. Join the NEMO site and seek advice there.
When starting out you usually pic a straight race. All zero's in abilities. When you get to be more proficiant you can style a race to fit. NEMO tends to be warrior class members who don't care to rank as members or as an alliance. But of any alliance they tend to have super battles against others that go down in history.
