We are getting them from snaps. I was friends with him until he started to ignore my pms, and never return the friendly fire that he said he would, and finally tried to take one of my planets.
Yeah I read that you quit the nemos. I hope the new alliance is just as good as the Nemos. :D

I think they are upgrading the site which is why there has been so much down time today.

I have been trying to be nice, even though I'm now ranked in the 800's.....:jumping: I took a guy's planet early this morning, which I had set in motion prior to the hiccup. Since the problem yesterday, neither of my new found friends from Spain and Germany have checked in, nor have they answered my messages to them, which is not normal. Now my compadre from Spain has been absent for over a day, (he is still ranked in the 500's), and my German friend is now an unknown...so I suppose he is out of the picture. What happened? Now I got a guy attacking me with 84 destroyers, the only reason being is because he has saved the pp,s over the last day and has not been able to log in and spend his points unwisely. What happened?

:D Actually, I'm OK with everything, I'm on a little vacation visiting my sister in Panama City. I'm getting a little frustrated trying to navigate her laptop.....but anyway. Today we took a trip out into the Gulf in my bro-in laws' boat, and had a bunch of Dolphins come right up next to our little boat......that was cooooollll. Made me think of my tank.......noooo....if a Tang is out of the question...........:D

What would be a appropriate lenght of time to assume that someone is no longer playing? "Idle" I mean.

Beth,
I would say at least 6 days. This beta I launched against someone that had been idle 5 days, only to have him login 1 hr before I hit, and throw up a massive SB. We ended up taking him out, but it cost us a lot more DS than origianlly planned.

Today was a great day! :happyfish
I won two battles and moved from player level 3 to player level 5 with the experience. I also got my eighth planet and sent a knockdown fleet to allow an ally to defeat the fleet that threatened his planet. I got 12 points today and moved back into the top 10. I will have difficulties staying there. However, I saved up my production and have purchased a basalt monolith to help with my culture problem. I can get my 9th planet in 3 days.

....Tommorrow May Be a Bad Day...for The Spot.....:nervous:
I got home tonight from Florida to find out that 205 destroyers will be paying a visit to my weakest planet in the morning. Unfortunately I have been on the road half the day, and haven't checked in. I did anticipate this, because I have already taken one planet from a Frenchie in my system and expected the other French guy to attack me sooner or later, and he's only at player level 1, so he's not fought much, and I thought he might send a nice size fleet. I'm already at player level 5, so I've been fighting a good bit. Unfortunately I can only meet his fleet with 125 ds, and I up'd my sb to 8. I just cashed in 2 supply points to get some pp, but it may be too late to save the planet. But, I've found another system with 3 free planets, and the only guy in the system is German......I may be re-locating........ :D
But Hey, I did break the top 500, barely, I'm at 483.......at least till the morning.......:D
Congrats Doc, I noticed you dropped out of the top 10, but I didn't want to say anything..........will this put you back in?

Theres a slim chance that you'll win. If you could get that SB to 9, you'd have a better chance.
Good Luck. You never know what'll happen until the fleet hits. Doc 1 a battle last beta that he only had a 1% chance of winning, so it does happen.

Well...........
.........I lost.........
. He sent a total of 305 destroyers and 16 transports. It was not pretty. Now his buddy is sending 80 destroyers to another planet of mine. I can only make 15 destroyers, so I don't stand a chance. So I've decided to spend my points on colony ships and send them to a free planet in another system. I know it's wimpy, but I will live to fight another day! ........I hope the people on my 2 lost planets like escargot........dang French:mad: !

Question?: Assuming that me and the 2 other guys in my system have the same biology level, can they see the same systems that I can see, or is it random?

They will be able to see the same systems. As your biology level goes up you will gain the ability to see more systems with each level. It gets hard to keep track of all the different systems by the end of the game.
To calculate which systems you can see, for each 2 levels of biology, you gain the ability to see 1 extra coordinate in all directions. For example you get to see 8 extra coordinate points with a biology level of 2 (probably only 0-1 actually has a planet). With a biology level of 4 you can see 16 extra coordinates. With a biology level of 6 you can see 24 extra coordinates. With a biology level of 8 you will see 32 extra coordinates. I currently have a bio of 8 and can see a total of 81 coordinates but I can only see 10 systems (each of which have people just like you - trying to dominate the universe). When you get to a biology of 23 you can send fleet to any system in the universe. (I only got to 20 last beta but this one will be longer).

It's more like me being dominated. Now I've got 3 French guys ganging up on me. My days are numbered......
. I finally found another American, and he is having the same problem. It figures though, it takes 3 French guys to beat up one American....:D My bad luck that I got plopped down in the middle of

[hr]
......:D

Haven't you looked at the stats, the majority of the players are French 25% I believe, followed by Germans and then Americans are third, then the Italians I believe. For the first time I have teamed up with a German and we own 1 whole system 6 planets each and we beat two French players to the death. Now I have a Canadian that wants to play rough with us, and he was offered peace.
I unfortunaly have this nack of pushing buttons, before the battle when he send his fleet to destroy me (I only had a pop of 2 and SB of 4) (but DS of 101). I told him it was a shame that we could have been friends, then I went on to tell him that he would lose the battle and I thanked him for the 198 experience points. I can only hope that he malfunctions again and tries a 2nd time as I now have 259 DS waiting for him. SB of 3 and pop of 2 still. :D
Sometimes baiting another player is half the battle or fun.

Teaming up with other players makes future expansion much easier. I currently have only 3 planets in my home system, 3 planets in my first expansion system and then my 2 (3 in the morning :joy: ) final planets are in completely different systems. This cuts my travel times for future attacks (and makes the systems easier to defend - one person doesn't have to do it all).
Right now, the NEMOs have 5 players in the top 7 overall rankings!

hey elfdoctors,
I've only got 2 planets in my main system. After the game started we took out the unknow, and the other player. We could have had it easy, but decided there where to many easy targets to stay in one system. Within a week we took control of another system. Now I'm in 4 different systems, and by the end of the weekend I expect to be in another. All but 1 totally under NEMO controll.

Systems with only 1 or 2 players are often prime targets for the NEMOs (and other large alliances) to attack. We usually have multiple players launch to the different planets and overwhelm a player's defenses. It is easier to defend a system that is dominated entirely by multiple allies. These techniques don't work as well for players without alliances.
The NEMO tag (which will be given after alliances are formed) also prevents many players from launching hostile attacks at us.

.........geeee.......suuuureee wiish "I" was a Nemo.........

......:D ......So far I'm still surviving. I managed to obtain at least a temporary truce with my French neighbors. I tried moving into another system that had several free planets and found one German guy that actually wants to be friends, but he only checks in every 3 days. I was immediately slammed by some guy that say's he is from the "Ming" empire...... .....and now he wants money from me so he want attack me any more, and he's ranked higher than me. But he's got a big force, and mine is kinda small cause I've been fighting the French. In my defense, I've staved off over 500 ds in a 24 hour period, and only lost one planet.
Also, Thomas, yeah I saw the stats from the gitgo, but so far I can see 8 systems, and the French are 3 to 1 in every system. I've tried making friends with every non French player, and even a couple of french players, and all the guys that are non French....stink..or they only check in every few days. And I have only gotten one response from a French player...he seems nice...but can barely speak a lick of English.
So, I've decided, if you can't beat em, join em. I've signed up for a French class at a local junior college. All I can say is "wie, wie"........ ....now I've got to go the bathroom......:D

.....I was just kidding about signing up for a French class.....:D
Quick question....if 2 different people send destroyers to one planet (mine) at the same time, do their destroyers fight each other if I still have the planet? They sent no transports...
