belothsurf,
Plus I had another noob launch a fleet at my spend all planet. He's so slow that I have 36 hrs to prepare for that fleet. I sent him a PM, and thanked him for attacking me.

He-he...that's funny.
Thanks for the offer Stacy, I may take you up on it, although, if things go according to plan with my Spanish friends, the French guys that ganged up on me will not be around much longer. I finished off one of them last night. But I'm sure I can make new enemies for you to spank......:D :D
I've got my Bio up to 10 now, and I've finally found a few more Americans...:D "Amigoes"!!!! (oops...that's for my Spanish friends)......."Buddiiieeesss"!!!!
One guy 'Aldrusian" is from the BTA alliance. Are they cool guys?

Cool, even though he is far away from me, I'll at least say hello.
What about Canadians. Are they generally friendly towards Americans, or do they buddy up with the French?
(the French......"GRRRR")

I have to say, I don't know how well I would do in an alliance where I have to take orders from someone else and where I have to give over my hard earned astro bucks. However, I can't imagine staying afloat in this game unless you had some real buddies backing you.
If you end up joining an alliance, do members in that alliance get placed close to each other.
That avatar deserves total annihilation.

Giving some cash to join an alliance is well worth it. For one you'll fight as a team. Saving a lot of trouble when invading another system. When we invade a system we usually go in with 4-5 members at a time. Its harder for 1-2 people to fight against several players and win. You'll loose a lot less fleet, and you'll cover more ground. Plus more people are afraid to attack you if they know that your in an alliance. If you attack an alliance member, you end up fighting the entire alliance, not just a single player. With a good size alliance there is plenty of players that will contribute cash when someone is in need.
Normally all the members of the alliance try to login at the same time. just a better chance of ending up next to our own members. Doesn't always work out though.

Yes, seems like AW is down.
The alliance process doesn't exactly seem democratic. I mean there are leaders that tell others what to do. That is not an alliance really. An alliance would be helping each other, but each doing their own thing, or at least, the process of decision making would be democratic in my mind. Anyway, how does one recognize a member as belonging to an alliance? Does the alliance avatar show up in the info screen for the member?
I'm assuming that one could create a new allaince, right? How does that happened?
I have cruiser capacity now. I'm going to put all my science into defense right now, then work on attack value. There is 1 player that I can see that is stonger than I. A few who are equal to me, and many more that are weak and are already getting eaten up by the stronger members.

Astrowars is still down! :nope:
Anyone can form an alliance if they have $A8000 and are at least player level 5 and have fewer than 200 points. Once you have that amount of money, the option will show up on your trade screen. Many of the alliances are locally formed with each beta. Some, like the NEMOs, have existed through several betas and are much more organized. They do have features of a democracy. However, some players are MUCH more knowledgeable about the game. These players can often dominate decision making as many people don't understand alternatives.
I had a great day today. I actually got 13 points, and got back into the top 10 for a little while again! My 11th planet has nice infrastructure also. :happyfish

uuuhhh.......I went to sleep for a few hours, and I just woke up(I think......). Well, the AW site is back up again.:notsure:
Or either I'm still asleep, or I have now entered the "Astrowars Twilight Zone"......."There is a sign ahead"....
Some things have gone backwards about 24 hours, while other things have continued to move forward. I've got a ton of pp's, but it appears none of the fights over the last 24 hours or so have taken place. Let me check again...:sleepy:

It seems that the server had to be reset back in time ~36 hours. Attacks that had been underway seem to have gone through but many other actions have been reversed. Whatever science you had been studying at the time is probably very high. Everyone seems to have had the same thing happen to them. This is the first time something like this has happened since I have been playing. You should be able to spend the ton of PP's you now have. This sure changes things....
I won my battle but the followup fleet with transports did not land so I do not have my new planet and cannot get it for 36 hours even though the planet is still under siege.
Welcome aboard ffisherman. What are your coordinates?

I lost one planet during the crash. I lost 2 levels of math science that I had achieved, where I had reached the magic level 15. I lost my cruiser ability. The only thing I gained was pps. I gained 16 overall science, I was at 15. But I lost my MATH [Defense].
I don't know about this. All the stradegy is gone with this loss.

I came out alright. A battle during that time didn't go well. This time it did. In fact I only have 1 destroyer and 1 battleship left. My secondary fleet + Transports are on there way. I did a few improvments and banked the rest.

I pretty much got screwed. I had been seiging a guy for 3 days, and yesterday he sent everything he had to break the seige and he failed. This time around I wont be able to hold the seige, so my only option was to remove the majority of my fleet and regroup on the nearest planet. I'll also loose 2 PL's because of this. The people that made out where the ones that lost battles. They'll know what they need to win this time around, and they'll have bigger fleets to do it with. I could build a bigger fleet, but there was no way I can beat him to the planet. Plus once he frees the planet he'll have a ton of PP's and throw up a monster SB.
On the other hand a lot of others that I'm working with made out. We had launched a major offensive the day that they rolled the server back to. The player logged in just before each fleet hitting, and threw up some monster SB's. This time all the fleets hit, and there was no resistance.
