Azfishgal New Tank Diary!

They are very small, but hey, have to start some where, right? Thanks AZreefgal for allowing me to go in on your order. It was great to meet you in person.

I have three frags of zoas and they started to open up soon after sticking them in the QT.
I have three of them, but one of them seems to have broken off it's tiny rock it was on. In one of the pictures you can see I had to stick it next to the glass and stick it in the sand so it wouldn't blow around with the current. Would using super glue on the foot of the coral hurt it, so I can try and attach it back to the small rock the other polyps are on? In seeing how they are, will they be ok like this for three weeks while in QT, or should I put them on some larger rocks. I'm not sure how fast they will grow? Oh, do I need to do any special feeding, or just use what I use for my feather dusters, PhytoPlex?

Yes, you can take a small dab of super glue gel to attach the zoo to the rock, make sure you don't get any on the top to keep it from opening, hold it in place for a about 15 sec and it will attach itself in afew days. watch the current for afew days so it doesn't get blown off.

I'm a fish newb.. I am filling my tank with water this weekend and you are SO inspiring! I love your tank, the colors are so vibrant and honestly, your picture essay has made my life easier... it's one thing to read about how to set up a tank.. and a completely different story to see it in pictures. Thanks!!

Or if you dip it in water, or drop some water on the glue, it will set right away. I learned this the hard way one time while trying to wash a glob of superglue gel off my fingers!

Happy to go in on an order with you anytime!
It was nice to finally meet you too! I probably should have warned you that I tend to look a bit rough after 12 hours at work.

You don't really need to feed them anything. They're pretty much photosynthetic. I've heard of some of them eating, but mine don't really show much interest in it. Believe me, I've tried.

This may sound weird, but can't wait for that to happen, bring it on.

My place heats up very fast during the day and I had a nasty stench in my place. I thought it was my dish washer but it was my skimmate. The cup was only 1/3 full. I wonder what it tastes like?

I like your pics.

Looks very nice... everything.
How long are you going to qt your new corals? You have quite a lot of posts on here so forgive my laziness but do you have special lighting on your qt?

I was also wondering what kind of lighting you have on your QT.

Well, I was going to get one this week, but since I now have the zoas in my QT I may wait. I don't think the goby will bother the zoas, but they are in his sand and if the goby comes down with something I won't be able to Hypo the QT unless I take out the zoas.

I'm so glad you are enjoying it. I'm a visual person myself and you can talk to me until you are blue in the face, but until I see pics, I won't get it.

So how do you get it off if some glue gets on your finger?
Ya, you really looked "rough." Please, I thought you looked cute, honest.
Thanks for the info on the food.
They sound like they are easy to keep, which is what I need to start with, nothing hard.

Well, I was thinking 3 weeks, just in case they have any parasites on them, they will die off without having any hosts (fish) to attach to. But, I may get impatient and move them to the DT sooner.

My QT is stock lighting, two T5 10,000K and one actinic (almost the same as my DT).

With a combination of peeling and picking. It's a slow process, but it works. Or I think nail polish remover with acetone would work too.

They are doing very well. This morning I didn't have the lights on soon enough I guess, because all the zoos were pointing towards the window.
I turned on the light and they straightend out. I've decided to move them to the DT today, after my hubby gets me some super glue gel. They are so tiny that I figure they can't have much wrong with them, and if there are any hitchikers they would be microscopic, I for one don't see anything. And then maybe later today I'll get another Goby to stick in the QT. The Goby will stay in the QT for three weeks, no cutting the corner on that one.
I'll take better pics of the zoos when they are in the DT.

If the zoos came on a rock then they still have the possibility of carrying something like ich. Its your choice to move them but just wanted to warn you that it is a possibility.
