zoos spread slow to medium...depends on lightings etc of course...but under the right conditions they can take off pretty well! if they do take off remember your friend who likes the denver broncos..whoever that is :notsure:

Yes, those are the plum people eaters, LOVE them! And yes, I'll remember......we'll have to do a trade.

Bronco pretty much said it. My neans are the smallest, plum people eaters are my largest ones (small grapes) and the backdrafts are in between the two. I'll try and get a farther away picture, so you can see them to scale (once the lights come on).

Just wondering how your ASM G2 skimmer is doing? Have you had any problems with it? How tall is it? Also I was wondering how it works. I know that protein skimmers take dissolved wastes out of the water but how do they take in the water? They just look like a tube and it doesnt seem that all the water if your sump can pass through it. Can you maybe post some pics of the skimmer and how its placed in the sump?

Hi Kevin, My skimmer is doing great. I know it's working because I have to empty the cup every few days. When I was curring my rock I had to empty it every day. Not sure about the mechanics on how it works, but as you can see it has it's own pump that pumps the water into the skimmer. I'm sure water makes it around the skimmer and back up into the DT, but nothing large will get through as I have that sponge filter just before the return. So far my water parameters are all doing great and I'm able to go two weeks between water changes and everything stays stable. Not sure if I'll be able to do that when it's fully stocked, but it's ok for now. Oh, it's about 21" tall.

So the skimmer comes with all the pumps installed? You just plug it in and let it do its thing? Also what size water changes are you doing?

Yes, the pump came with the skimmer (bought it from SWF), you just hook it up (VERY easy) and then plug it in, that's it.
It really baffles me on how it works, because it seemed like it should have a more complicated mechanical piece or something, but nope. My water changes are 12 gallons.

I thought this would be fun to post how far my tank has come in just over two months.

I keep my calcium at 400+ (not more than 450) and my alk at 3.3-3.5. Once I got it to that point and kept it there my purple coraline has taken off. It's even starting to get on my powerheads.
But, I'll probably keep a close eye on that and not let it get to crazy to stop them from working.

I have both the Red Sea Marine Lab and Reef Lab and both are doing well for me. The Nitrite test gives me a false reading of 0.05 when I know it's 0. But it did test higher when I was cycling, so I figure if it doesn't go above 0.05 I'm doing good (especially when my Ammonia is at 0 and my Nitrates are low). The calcium test will only give me a 350, 400, or 450 (50 incriments), but so far I have never tested at 450, so that's why I say I'm at 400+. One of these days I may get a more detailed calcium test, but as you see my coraline is growing good and it's never tested at 450, so I figure I'm good.

Sleeper Goby is my newest fish, but he's in QT for another 2 1/2 weeks. Then I'll get a Royal Gramma, 3 Lyretail Anthias (one male, two females), Hippo Tang, Yellow Tang, all being QT for three weeks before added to my DT. I'm sure I'll get some more coral in between fish.

First we have the 125 gallon tank. Boy, was that bad boy heavy!

The sump came next (still a little disappointed that my refuge is on the small side, but we'll make it work. From right to left it goes like this: water flows into lr > refuge > skimmer > filter sponge between black grids > return. This is actually backwards and will be turned around once it's in the stand.

The beginning of the stand! :cheer: (That's hubby working on it, not thrilled to be in picture.
) Top of frame there is 1.5" steel tubing.

Back wall is now on!

Joint work

Well, that's it for now. Hope to have more pics for you by the end of the day as the stand is being worked on. My husband has a new motivation to get it done. His parents are coming into town in two weeks and they are taking back our old bed frame/drawers. The tank is currently sitting on top of it, so we have to move the tank so they can take it away.

haha anyone remeber this?

3 coats of black spray paint (on the outside of course).
We didn't paint the glass behind the overflow though, just in case we need to do some work on it, the light would be better. But of course you can't see that looking into the tank, because the overflow covers that part of the glass.

Thanks for the reminder. It's been a fun adventure and I've learned a lot.
