That is the million dollar question. All I can say is my husband started on the canopy today, will work on it again tomorrow, and then it's back to work for him. Wednesday or Thursday he'll be back on it, I hope. So really......your guess is as good as mine.

Well good luck. It will look great. I hope you fall into the same boat I did without a chiller. Definately incorperate some fans into your canopy. My tank runs from 79.3 to 80.2 a day btw. It was the only tank temp I could get to not fluctuate too much. I keep my house at 76. Make sure you keep a close eye on the temp when you first set it all up. If you run your tank a little cooler, now would be a good time to slowly start raising temp closer to 80 IMO.

Ya, I too hope I won't need a chiller. A few weeks ago I put a four fan unit in my sump and it took my temp down 2 degrees, so I'm having the same one in my canopy as well. So hopefully I will be ok. I've also done some research on tank temps and really, from what the experts say, having a tank at 78 is actually on the cool side. They recomend a reef tank being between 80-84. Raising the temp slowly now is a good idea.

Here are the pics of my new Brain and Shroom in the DT.
It took forever to find a spot for the shroom. I guess my tank as to much flow.
But after about a dozen placements I think I finally found the perfect spot. I guess I'll have to stay away from low flow corals from now on, as I think I've used up all the low-flow spots.

It was the only place that made him happy. He kept shrinking every place else. The rocks are keeping him from being blown away. Maybe I should get smaller powerheads.
It's either that, or my tank is going to be a SPS heaven.

You still have the Koralia 3s rite? Thats a great looking hippo tang. Do you have any new full tank shots?

Yes, I still have the Koralia 3s, I'm just glad I didn't get the 4s, that would have been WAY to much flow. I'll try taking another full tank shot when the lights come on, but I have a tough time getting those shots to come out. I think it's just because I don't have the best lighting for it, but hubby is working on the canopy as we speak, so hopefully I will have my MHs up soon.
I'm sure once those go up my full tank shots will be much better.

Well here is the full tank shot that was shown early, minus the doors on my stand, so it's a closer up shot. The brain, new shroom, and Royal Gramma is missing, but everything else is the same. This is actually the best full tank shot I have so far. (Sorry if the picture is to big, but I thought you'd want to see details.)

Do you have a chiller? I ask because I see you live in AZ and I live in CA. My temp with out a chiller right now is 85 with no T5 on and when they are on it gets to 88 good thing is there is no fish right now since its a new cycle.

Is your heater broken or set to high? Your tank IMO should not be running that hot. How big is your tank? Mine runs around 79-80, was 82 but after I added a four fan unit to my sump it brought the temp down 2 degrees (I run my AC at 78). I'm also putting one of those fan units in my canopy with my MHs. Azaintcold has MHs and he is NOT running a chiller, I think his temp is around 81 or so and that's completely acceptable (his AC is set at 76). IMO your tank can run up to 84 and still be safe for your fish, but any higher than that you are going to want to run some fans or buy a chiller. I'm just going to hold my breath when I get my MHs up and running and pray I won't need one. Can't remember if I posted this already, but here is a picture of the fan in my sump.

OK, here is another full tank shot. This will be the last one until I get my MH's up and running. It's just hard to get a good one with my current lights. This is with everything I have except "Dori" who's in QT at the moment (she'll be there for 4 weeks). You can see the open brain on the sand and if you look close you can see the fuzzy mushroom, below the red mushrooms almost all the way down. You can even see the Royal Gramma swimming around. He seems to really like his new home.

In that size tank you'll never miss them.

Only after I can get them to flourish in the tank. I'm still trying to figure out what I have to do to get them to grow like some other peoples tank on this forum.... I got test kits for every thing imaginable to try and figure out what I am, or have been doing wrong. I did find that my magnesium level was extemely low, (880) and am working on getting that up. I was told that regular water changes, (which I do), would keep the level up around 1300. WRONG, or at least in my tank. When they start taking off, you are on the top of the list!

Looking forward to it!!!
Have you talked with Murph, he seems to grow SPS without even trying.
He's the one I want to talk to when I get ready to add some SPS. I have really good water flow and will be putting up 250W MHs, so that's all good, just need to make sure my water quality is good. I was doing water changes every other week, but I'm starting to do them every week to really get that water good and ready for any SPS I stick in. In all your research which ones are the easiest to start with?

Just a few shots I took today. The first one has all 6 of my fish. It was actually pretty easy to do. They were circlying because it was dinner time.
