Hippo tangs need a lot of swimming room. The longest side of your tank is maybe 2.5 feet, a 125 gallon tank is 6 ft., and yes it makes that big of a difference to the fish.

I'll agree that a fish is happier in the ocean than a 100 gallon .. but a 50 gallon is just torture .. and tell me how big the fish you bought today are so that I can assess your situation

have you ever owned a house cat grumpy gills? .. well in case you have or haven't it doesn't matter to me .. either way I'm still going to give you my analogy .. now .. I cat would be happiest outside .. but people still keep cat's indoors .. and I believe that the cats are just as happy if not happier .. now .. the house is the 6' long tank .. the closet is your 54 gallon tank .. would you keep a cat in a closet?

As stated, when they get big, they will be moved. I knew exactly what I was getting, how big they get and that I would have to move them. Please see last post. I would love to see some scientific facts from you all.

JAM1E i would quit wasting your time you asked if this thread was a joke, the only joke is grumpygills, and his rudamentary skill at providing a less than suitable home for the fish that he has spent his money on, personally, this guy would have been shown the door at the pet store i used to work in, business is business, but bad business is not business. This guy isn't going to listen to anything that any of us have to say, like i said before, his attitude and mentality, not to mention argumentative demeanor have made him the current swf joke...

scientific fact, your asking for scientific fact, as though the experience of the hundreds of people that regularly visit this website couldnt be a case in point for you, do you have nothing better to do than debate tried and tested truths? Like someone posted above, you are already hindering yor fishes ability to grow properly, they should have grown much more than they have, if you need more proof than that your blind...

Sorry fishgeek and jam1e but you're wasting your time with this person. He doesn't view the hobby the way that others do. He doesn't mind buying fish that he shouldn't right now and stressing them by putting them in a small tank and then returning them or whatever he's going to do. Move on. It sucks that the fish will suffer but hopefully he loses a ton of money.

Just because some one does not share your opinion is no reason to be nasty. No wonder this site gets banged on for people being psycho. I appreciate this site, just not some of the people.

P.S. I suppose there are too many fish and too much coral in this tank too?

no that tank looks pretty good actually .. it's yours that worries me .. and I'm pretty sure that isn't yours

No there are not to many fish or coral in the tank, it's just that the fish in your tank get too big to be in your tank. You stress the fish out when you take them back to the LFS because you can't be responsible enough to get fish that can live in your tank for life.
