I am glad your CUC is doing well.
As for the question about the PH buffer.... I have never had a PH swing like that... But I asked about buffer when I first got into the hobby and I was told that it will only mask the problem and that if your PH were to take a bigger dip, you wouldn't know it was as bad as it was, because of the buffer.
As to what you would use, you would have to ask the experts. I have never had a chance to use a buffer, and for that I am happy. But I would think there would be something else you could do or use... ? water changes? I don't know?
Anybody have an answer for this?
Have you gotten your pods or live rock yet??? make sure you do that 1 month before you get your mandarin

You know...I hate to say this...I have no clue....I have NEVER had a ph problem....
When do you test? I have read that you should test at different times of the day..

honestly ive tested at different times of the day, since ive had this tank up and running i dont think that ive tested the water at the same time not even once....
my lfs told me that i should alway test after about an hour after i turn on my lights so based on that its been about an hour after lights go on till about 4 hours after lights on till about maybe half hour right before i turn off my lights so im kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place it seems...

your saying that you test your water when the lights are on right? check the water in the middle of the day. to see any change. when you add the buffer. do you have the liquid or what?

the buffer i have is in powder form, i would have to mix in two cap fulls for every 4 gallons.. mix the powder r/o water
