Breeding Bangaii Cardinals

I think this is just the coolest thing. If you can get this unit up, and actually have bangers breeding successfully and youre raising them to adulthood, youd be one of the few people who actually can! You might even get the money back for all of this over time. Congrats

Hi there. Great thread!! You've really poured yourself into those babies.

When will they be ready for new homes?

lol. Thanks guys for all your support! I couldn't have done it without you guys help! Believe me on this! I mean it!
The babies will be ready in about three to five months I'm assuming. I will keep you updated and I will let you know.
Again, Thanks for all your help!
Charlie.

So, how often do they have babies? Is this going to be like seahorses and they continuously bred every month?
Speaking of that. The seahorse breeders may have some good resources for food for your fry.

Thanks! I think if I let them, they will breed every month. However, I have separated the male and the female to condition them in order to successfully breed them again.

ok. the little guys are definatelly growing! They are 17 days old!!! the sad part is that today, I lost one. I don't know why but it's dead. Everyone else looks ok.
So, I will let you know what happens next.
Goodnight everyone.

I'm in the process of getting a breeders net for my male who is holding babies. I know I don't have much time though before he releases them so I better get busy. I have a 10 gallon nano tank to put the babies in once they are released. Any updates on your brood?

What dead food would you recomend to try. My male is holding babies and I would like to try dead food first, just to see if they will eat it (having baby brine on hand just in case they dont). What would be the best dead food to try, Cyclop-eeze?

I've had my best success rates with frozen prawn eggs. Those seem to be difficult to get lately. Dry Cyclop-eeze that has been ground down into smaller pieces and soaked in SelCon are the next best.

Thanks, I'll see what I can get my hands on. I do have frozen Cyclops and it seems very tiny, would that work? What is the difference between what I have and Cyclop-eeze? I have Vita-Chem on hand already would that work to soak the food, or is SelCon better? Thanks again for your help?

If they actually eat the frozen Cyclops then that's great. The advantage of freeze dried is that it can be easily ground into smaller pieces without creating mush.

Great set up for breeding them. Just think you never probably thought your cardinals were going to breed and now you like it so much you bought a tank do so

Hey, any updates on the babies?! I have 40 new little babies spit out of the males mouth while I was trying to catch him!
I believe I caught most of them. Just wanted to see how you were doing and how your batch of babies are doing?

don't want to hijack, but have a quick question. I just bought two of these guys from my LFS. They were in a group of 4 of them and I tried to get the two that seemed to stay closer to one another than all the rest. Is there any way to tell the differance between a male and female though?
