If you have healthy colonies, they really don't even make a visible dent in the SPS. I have no plans for this guy to eat SPS long term, nor do I think it's the key to their survival. He eats more copepods than SPS polyps and can be seen nibbling at my terrible bryopsis issue all the time (I'm assuming because there are a lot of pods in it). Many people notice that they graze in algae patches, so this could pose a key to their survival. My guy is taking frozen, but then spits it out, which while not ideal, is a HUGE plus with this fish. I've converted some in the past, so hopefully this guy will. Like I said, was not a planned addition, he's a rescue, so fingers crossed.

Time for my almost monthly update... Added some new pieces, got rid of a few and moved somethings around. I still need to upload a few more pics, but here's a start:
Aussie Neon Green Wall Hammer:

The purple cap up top is new, the red rhodactis mushrooms at the bottom are from the seahorse tank, and the Blueberry Gorgonian (moved from a different tank):

Blueberry Gorgonian, Tri Color Valida (or so we think that's what it is), Purple Nana (had this forever) Millipora and an unknown blue acro (and frags of what's left of my beautiful birdsnest colony
:

New Blastomussa wellsi colony (I love these corals):

Full Tank Shot:

So we lost the huge Pink Birdsnest colony, and although I'm heartbroken that we lost the piece, what we found inside, that survived dipping and quarantine was worth loosing the coral for. Inside we found some pistol shrimps and a green serpent star (yes, the fish eating serpent star!). I don't know how those go through.
We also added a fox coral, a few new palys and zoanthids, black tubestrea and some other acros, just don't have pics of them uploaded yet.
AND... I have an unreleased to the public as of yet Clownfish from ORA

An ORA Black Ice Snowflake Clown. I'll post pics of her later. I'm still working on getting a mate for her. Hopefully in the next month I'll have another one.

No new fish or corals have been added, BUT we did upgrade the refugium finally to a 55G. It's divided because I have two pairs of clowns in it. Hopefully the divider will also help keep the caulerpa from spreading to the other side where I'm trying to grow my red macro algae. The caulerpa was just choking it out in the old fuge.
Anyways, I added my Black Ice Snowflakes to the new fuge. Here's their thread: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/388354/my-black-ice-snowflake-clownfish
We're also trying out a new water change method. Instead of our 20+g weekly water change schedule, we are trying a 2G, 2x a day method. The idea is that it keeps things more stable, etc.
My husband wired up float switches, etc and it's through a controller. Basically, he hits a button on the controller, which turns off the auto top off, pulls out two gallons of water, and then adds in two gallons of new water. Once the two gallons are back in, the auto top off turns back on. It's really quite neat to see it all working with just a push of a button, I'm quite impressed with how my husband has made this all work. It seems to be working as far as the reef goes. There's less shock that can be accompanied by a large water change, and there's a constant small addition of new trace elements twice daily. It also works as if the tides were changing. This combined with the MP40's and 10 seems to be having a good effect on our corals.

I finally got my husband to start the write up about the automatic water change system he made.

It looks VERY nice. I haven't had a chance to read through the whole build yet, but I will be sure to when I have time. I absolutely adore that garden eel in the last pic.

They are resplendent anthias and they are in the main tank. In our 55 gallon display refugium is where our black ice clowns and garden eel live.

Looking forward to them. I know what you mean by staying up late working on your tank!
